From where we have come from, he has been a fantastic manager for the club and brought us a lot of relative success, Celtic’s dominance aside. But feels like we need to freshen things up and have some new ideas, would be refreshing to give youth a chance and play attacking football (without putting Cosgrove on the pitch).

 

Hope he can sign off with a trophy and leave at the end of the season, as he is never going to be sacked.

Winning the cup would hopefully raise his profile enough to put him in the mix for some English clubs who don't have huns involved (ie other than Sunderland) and who might be changing manager in the next few months.

It isn't a case of Rangers having better players than us, when you look at the strongest possible starting XIs next week they are evenly matched. You're not going to convince me we should be terrified of a midfield of Jack and Arfield, or that Candeias is better than what we have on the wing. It is McInnes v Gerrard, who actually is the better manager and can get the best out of their team.

Rangers have a better squad than us because they have a bigger one.

 

But, if you're only picking eleven players to start the game, then....

 

Goalkeeper: Pretty much the same. A Rangers fan might spend all day arguing McGregor is better, a Dons fan would argue Lewis. But undoubtedly both have good goalkeepers.

 

Defence: Again, pretty much where both teams are strongest. With McKenna in there we seem to have a pretty solid backline most of the time. 

 

Midfield: If I'm being unbiased, maybe a slight edge to Rangers, but their midfield is Arfield, Jack, Kent, Ojaria, Candeias. Hardly streets ahead of McGinn, Ferguson, Mackay-Steven and Shinnie. The problem position for us is a partner for Shinnie. Ball is a back-up to Shinnie. Gleeson needs to step up.

 

Forwards: This is where Rangers are better than Aberdeen, because Morelos and Lafferty are better than what we have. However, they're both out next week, so they lose that advantage.

 

 

Fuck, maybe I'm just an eternal optimist, but I think we have the players to win next week. That Rangers team doesn't scare me. Half the time I think we beat ourselves by the way we set up.

Correct. They do have better players than us (and so they should with the money they have spent). But their players aren't that much better that we can't beat them. But to beat them you have to believe in yourself completely, get in their faces right from the off and match them mentally as well as physically. I have yet to see evidence that we are truly capable of doing that. But considering their top two strikers are unavailable for the game and with them still having to play twice before next Sunday we'll never have a better chance of turning them over at Hampden.

 

I can imagine the huns were delighted when we knocked Hibs out. They are well aware that we tend to bottle it against them whereas it's the complete opposite with Lennon and his Hibs side.

 

Make no mistake we were the club the other three left in the draw wanted in the SF. It's fucking time for this management team and group of players to stand up and be counted and win a big game where there the outcome truly matters for both teams.

Taken out of context - I listened to the whole interview. He was saying that the Hearts crowd was noisy and as a result Hearts were right up for it from the start, and that Aberdeen didn't match that intensity. He then said if there's a positive then it'll be that the team will learn from that and not make the same mistake next week, where he said Hampden will be a "proper atmosphere", and that if they can replicate the second half performance at Hampden they'll have a chance.
