mcdougall(4)
Because he's got all the attributes to play there? He's got good control, pace, can beat a man and get a cross in But he is used to the game being in front of him, he'd be lost positionally. You're one of those that think both cb positions are the same too aren't you... Link to comment

It's fine, let's drop it. It's turning into a Shinnie like conversation now. Let's just play Johnny Russell in front of Robertson and drop Tierney Link to comment

Let's just play Johnny Russell in front of Robertson and drop Tierney Yep... this is a good article from the BBC https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45317675 Pretty much shows Robertson playing as an extra wide midfielder. No doubt he could play left midfield for Scotland - he'd probably still be our best player. If we played 4-4-2, then I'd use the friendlies to try and integrate Tierney and Robertson on the left. Tierney at fullback and Robertson on the wing. However, that's a moot point as McLeish has pretty much indicated that he's committed to wing-back and three centre halves. I think it's fairly certain Robertson will play left wing back (where I'm sure he'll excel) and tierney will play as the left-sided centre half. At the moment that's the best compromise... Patterson and Robertson can get up and down all day... you just worry defensively on Pattersons flank. He is extremely poor defensively and if this is McLeish's plan, we're bound to be targeted in that area. 1 Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
Because he's got all the attributes to play there? You’ve literally had to reference a £90 million player to think of someone who has done it Link to comment

Robertson attacks from deeper than a wide left player would and has an attacker ahead of tying up the primary defender. In the article linked above by sotr Gullit says "Against Brighton on Saturday, Liverpool's Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold were dynamic and dangerous, overlapping at pace to get in positions close to the byeline from where they could get in telling crosses and cut-backs." You can't overlap when you're the furthest forward on that side, playing him as a lwb is the best solution to getting them both in. Link to comment

robbojunior
It’s irrelevant whether Robertson would be as effective at left mid or not. He’d still be the best left midfielder we could put on the park. So it’s hardly a ridiculous suggestion. Link to comment

Byrne Baby Byrne
For Albania I reckon... with the wide players as wing backs. Cant be arsed perfecting their position slot Gordon Fraser Hendry Mulgrew Tierney Robertson McGinn Armstrong Cairney Griffiths Phillips It's not till you try and pick a starting 11 that you truly realise how crap Scotland are 1 Link to comment
V for Vendetta
I think Souttar would be ahead of Hendry at the moment, in much better form so far. Not too bad otherwise (given our options) Link to comment
