  1. So getting on from the bench doesnt count? it was 24 league matches, the rest in cups. This was about us signing players from ECL/EFL1 who couldn't get playing time (ie not even making the bench) at the club they are at. As Ramsay can't do now
  2. The parameter was "couldn't get into the team". The season only had about 8 weeks to go when he signed for them and he played 6 times...supposedly to replace the injured Mike Newell but some say it was really to weaken Swindon who were promotion rivals to Blackburn.
  3. Signed for Blackburn in March 92. Played 6 times for them and joined us in the summer.
  4. When were Celtic playing in the English Championship or EFL1?
  5. Played 33 times for Oldham in the 6 months he was with them for before joining us Played 18 times for Sheffield United in the 4 months or so he was with them after signing a short term deal Played 19 times for Brentford between August to late January before joining us on loan, admittedly he was dropped for 7 weeks in that period but was back getting game time after this
  6. Goalkeepers I think are more of a special case. But the reason I don't want us going anywhere near Ramsay is because he hasn't been able to prove himself capable of being an effective player anywhere after his well documented injury problems. Just because he's a local loon who has played well for us in the past isn't a reason for us to be a rehabilitation centre for him. Ideally we will sign an upgrade on Devlin this summer but not an experimental one. If we announced that we were signing another player from Bolton who couldn't make their matchday squad on a regular basis I think most of here would be thinking "What the fuck????". We signed Morris from an EFL1 club (for not insignificant money).....he could barely get off the Fleetwood bench. Look how that turned out. I really do hope Ramsay can get himself fully fit and back to the player he once was prior to leaving us but I'd like him to do it elsewhere and if that upsets some folk on here I can live with it. If...and only if.....he manages to do that would I want him back
  7. Maybe so but I think they'd be looking for a loan fee off of us.......bearing in mind they've given us £4m for him and essentially had zero return on it......that they might not ask off of the likes of St J or 'Well. But again I ask the question. Why would we want a player that cannot even get himself a place on Bolton's bench?
  8. I think this is the quote that MT and I are referring to. On first reading it seems innocent enough but read into it fully, the bit about "I have got to look for players who I feel can help"....and what followed around a week or so later when Liverpool recalled him halfway through his season's loan. A recall that plenty of Preston supporters were predicting on their supporter sites as they said that it was clear Lowe wasn't going to be playing him any time soon. Dec 30, 2023 #200 Lowe said: ‘He (Ramsay) is available. He's just out of the squad at the moment, because he had Covid. He's fit and training every day, but I have got to look for players who I feel can help - coming off the bench.
  9. Possibly, but he was getting no game time at a bog standard Championship club (Preston) who's manager was utterly scathing about him. It would have been pointless of him staying at Liverpool playing U23 team football at best (might even have been U21). Bolton in EFL1 look like they have a decent shot at getting promotion so it seemed on the face of it like a reasonable place to get some first team action. As I've said before, a £4m player SHOULD be able to hold down a starting spot at that level comfortably. The fact that Ramsay isn't even making it onto their bench now, never mind not making their starting line up to me says a lot. It's a real shame as he was certainly talented but it seems that injuries have taken a toll on him even though he doesn't turn 21 until the summer. It's not too late yet for him to turn things around (although I'm certain that his career at Liverpool is already essentially over) but again, as I've said before, if he cannot cope with playing in EFL1, Aberdeen should certainly not be making any moves to bring him in on loan at this juncture.
  10. Hardly comparing like for like as Patterson is getting some game time 2 leagues higher up than where Ramsay currently is.
  11. He would have got a decent rise last summer when Sheffield got promoted up to the EPL. That sort of wage (in EPL terms it would still be seen as pretty crap) is well beyond our means. Of course they're going straight back down to the Championship and will need to cut their cloth accordingly despite getting a whopping great parachute payment in doing so. Lowe has only been used sparingly this season (8 matches is what I'm seeing, with only 3 starts) but did play a fair bit the previous season. Difficult to say if he will get a new contract there, relegation might help him in this regard although it seems very late to be without a new offer (that we know of anyway). Even if he's released, he'd surely pick up a contract at a lower end Championship team on money we just wouldn't be able to match.
