Memories of Players Doon the Toon
a don in oz replied to BaaBaaRedSheep's topic in AFC and Scottish Football
When I was out visiting in the early 2010s sometime I went to Pittodrie to pick up tickets for some game I was going to see and just walked out of the ticket office back to the car and met Milson and... *blank*. Shit. Can't remember who. Another player that came in around the same time. Had a tiny chat. Doesn't really count since it was outside the ground. Walking along Union Terrace towards Rosemount Viaduct, maybe mid 90s. Powering on, not paying attention, head probably down and walked around the corner walked straight into Eoin Jess coming the other way. Apologised for walking into the stranger and he 'no problemed' or something equally neutral and carried on and it took me a second to realise who it was. That's the only time I've bumped into any our players away from the gronud and it was a literal bump. (Wikipedia to the rescue: it was Isaac Osbourne, so that means it was sometime in 2011-2013) -
Ok, this. This I do not understand at all. Why on earth was his visa application not in the moment he signed on the dotted line? Get that sorted ffs. It's not as if he has any overseas games he needs to go to between now and June.

Did I read right that one of Thelin's assistants is a recently-ish retired former Swedish international winger? Wonder if that means he'll have an eye for raw material. ie: if any of our players actually have what it takes in that role, and whether Hoilett is worth trying to keep at his age. Certainly, as others are saying now that he's got match fitness he's looking like a good player and while he's 33 (right?) he's not relying on pace to beat players so maybe he has it for at least another year maybe two. Without having a clue what Thelin will bring to the table, trying to get Hoilett for a one-year deal would seem reasonable. More than that would be a gamble. Whatever happens, he's doing a turn for us now and that's nice to see.

They're looking to chop it off for offside. -

VAR can't overrule that surely. That's a clear penalty from the two of them. -

Fucking hell Devlin. That was a mental ball to Barron. No chance he could get that. -

Gartenmann really has reverted back to the good looking player he was when he first came. That was a great bit of defensive movement from him and clearing ball off the line-ish. -

Right. No Leven? Well that's not a great omen but hey ho. Let's see how things go. -
Pretty much exactly my feeling about him. 👍

I'd love to say I think we will wallop them but I can see us struggling because that's this season. Don't think we'll lose but think it'll be closer than it should be in terms of the score.
