Betty Swallicks
I don't see why a figure of £400k is outwith us for what is a player who already can play and if we can sign him for 3 years and sell him on after 2 years will undoubtedly be a profit making exercise... The club should start thinking smarter... We make £600k+ if we get to the last qualifying round of the Europa League... No one's asking them to go out and spend £10 million... Because we've got a new pitch to go down and nae training ground and need a new stadium. Link to comment

Christie and GMS are good players who are not really needed at Parkhead. Celtic can afford to buy better players. We really have to invest to keep up our challenge for next season. If Christie is available but outwith budget, that just tough shit. We have to find someone else, I'm sure there's more than just Christie and GMS out there. Link to comment

dj_bollocks
If you want more European nights and a shot at more silverware (and to counteract and already over spending Sevco) you have to start spending modestly more than we are right now... Not only that but you'll have to satisfy a manager who will start to eye up opportunities elsewhere if he feels he can't improve the team and the results with the budget that he's on and the support from the board. He'll look elsewhere for a new challenge. If you can't see that then maybe the best you hope for is to win a trophy every 20 years or to win against a dead team at their ground once in 26 years... I'd like to think our club and support have more ambition than that... Time will tell... Link to comment

We've finished 2nd three years in a row and 3rd the year before. We have had plenty shots at silverware since Mcinnes arrived. Assuming he gets the right replacements in during the summer we will be fine. dj_bollocks
Where is the only growth as a team Aberdeen can profit from ? Getting closer to Celtic ? Being 20 points behind instead of 30 doesn't get you anymore prize money... Getting to Cup Finals helps but doesn't really tip the bank account massively whether you're the winner or runner up... Want to attract a better quality of player to AFC ? Want to start making making more money ? Qualify for Europe. Want to know a sure fire way to fuck things up ? Stand still... Expect 2nd place and Cup Finals alone and inevitably we'll meet Celtic at the 4th round... or the Zombies will strengthen outwith our capability... Then Dmc decides, you know what I can't take this team any further forward and you lose the real reason why we are where we are... We have our best manager in 30 years, why not give him the resources to take the club further and keep him here to create a legacy as big as he can to Fergie ? 2 Link to comment
bruceg1978
We have reached two cup finals and came second in the league so prize money on offer to us this year must be the highest its been for many a year. Away to free up wages on Jack, McGinn and Pawlett which must be at the higher end scale of what we are paying. £300k bid for Christie is surely an option. Be a great addition to get in full time. We wont get Christie for £300k. We won't get him for £400k either. That is nothing to Celtic and they'd surely get more from down south if they wanted to sell him. Maybe we will in the summer... If he doesn't plan on resigning at least have the courtesy to tell us now so we can punt you... Or alternatively commit to the club... If Moult or Boyce are being bandied about for 7 figures - no reason why McLean shouldn't be... That should get us Christie and 1 or 2 other players no bother... Link to comment

I can't see them selling him because Rodgers rates Christie highly, and a loan move to the team finishing second and who have just pumped you in the Scottish Cup final would be odd. Link to comment

Agreed. We need to get McLean's future sorted out this summer. Ideally he would sign an extension with an agreement that he can move on if the club get some decent wedge. Sit on things for the next 6 months, and Kenny can go where he wants! Link to comment
