Aberdeen Football Club and Atlanta United are entering into a strategic partnership that is geared towards boosting football and commercial operations for both Clubs.

AMB Sports & Entertainment (the parent company of Atlanta United) is investing £2million into AFC as part of a new package of investment, led by Dave Cormack, totalling £5million. This will provide working capital for the Club’s day to day operations.

As part of Atlanta’s investment and the partnership arrangement, Darren Eales, the President of the Major League Soccer Club and former Executive Director of Tottenham Hotspur, will join AFC’s Board of Directors.

There's some more info from the Atlanta perspective here:

'Eales stressed that the investment of 2 million pounds ($2.57 million) was agreed to as a means of sharing best practices between clubs, including construction, fan engagement, scouting and youth development'

'There are also MLS clubs that have “sister club” partnerships with clubs around the world. Eales said the investment in Aberdeen is different because AMBSE has a financial stake in the success of the club, which means consistent attention and cooperation will be exercised.'

'Eales anticipates the scouting departments working closely together to help identify talent. Atlanta United has done well identifying and recruiting talented players from South America. Aberdeen is strong in the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe.'

Surely a one way street that one?

The Atlanta MLS top is ridiculously expensive. In Canadian currency its over 130 dollars. Next time they come to Montreal and play the Montreal Impact I might go see them.

I read some Atlanta fans hope they loan us George Campbell. An 18 year old Defender who has never played for their first team. Sounds like another Jon Gallagher.

There seems to be mixed feelings amongst the Atlanta Utd fans about this partnership. They were hoping for an elite European club such Bayern Munich.
