got to be a multiple faceted approach with VAR

If you have VAR - you cant have an appeal process

IF you have VAR you cant have a compliance officer

if a player is shown to have tried to con the ref (diving) he should red carded ( the compliance officer does this retrospectively)

If a club doesn't use VAR but TV is available you can appeal to the match referee team but also all games are reviewed by the match referee team who can change disciplinary decisions they made

Why can't the Managers have 3 challenges’ like in Tennis . Then game is only stopped if Manager does not agree.

If you challenge everything and are wrong then you will have used them up before a Game Changeing moment.

Not a huge fan of the challenge system for football. Why have the tech implemented and then when the referee makes a blatantly wrong decision it's 'sorry, you've used up your challenges'. What's thr point in having VAR if it still leads to incorrect decisions it could have easily corrected.

I think it takes some pressure of referees to get the decisions right too. 'Yeah, I missed that blatant hand ball in the last minute...but it wasn't my fault you had no appeals left!'.

Not only should we mic the refs up but if var proves they have got any blatant decisions wrong they should be shown a red card and replaced with the 4th official.

The two referees with the most red cards get relegated at the end of the season.

Alternatively they could stand in the centre circle, bend over and get kicked up the arse by the captain of the wrongly penalised team a la Father Ted and Bishop Brennan

Why not? Cause it's fucking ridiculous.

One thing that I used to love about the game is the fact that regardless of whether it's a Scottish cup final, a world cup final or a Sunday league kick about in the local park, it was the same game. The goals are the same, the rules are the same, the kit and boots could be too. It wasn't like cricket or rugby or some other shite that is just a kid on version of what you saw on tv with all the technology available to man, a different game.

Fitba was the same game at all levels. It's fucked up now, beyond all recognition.

In theory yes. But in practice it will just be another compliance officer debacle. The person watching the footage decides which incidents to alert to the referee. What could possibly go wrong?

Load of shite.

It would still be a massive step forward and great improvement on the systems we have at present.

You're just being negative for the sake of it.

Well this thread just took an interesting twist.

Never ever a penalty. Fuck sake!

Aye. You'd have to fucking mental to see a penalty in that man utd game. That was a clear and obvious mistake by the referee and his video mates. Everyone knows it but just like dodgy decisions without var, you can't do a thing about it.

VAR is supposedly a tool to aid officials but if the officials are dodgy they get even more opportunity to decide games.

The player jumped up and turned his back to make himself big like a fanny. If that was the Dons attacking for a winning goal in the last minute I'd be screaming for a pen. I've seen far worse awarded in the Scottish top flight this season.

Moral of the story is face the ball like a fucking man and don't be a pussy. By doing that if you happen to get brutally taken out like Murdo MacLeod did against Branco in 1990 then tough shit it's a man's game at the end of the day.

VAR can help clear up decisions that are clearly wrong but in the PSG game, the referee looked at the replays for about a minute, and I'm not convinced he really knew if he should give it or not. On the BT Sports show after there was disagreement over if wasa penalty or not and in this topic we can't decide either.

So those kind of things VAR doesn't really help much but that doesn't mean we shouldn't still use it to clear up more obvious decisions that would otherwise have been incorrectly given.

Or for a ten minute spell,of the managers choosing, in every game, the goalie is allowed to wear those huge foam hands .

Also fans of the losing team have to buy the winning fans a coffee each. If the winning fans vastly outnumber the losing fans then that’s just fucking tough luck.

The Kenny Everett rule. Might catch on

Players would be told to stop swearing, and I guess the only way to stop it would be to start dishing out cards. Would soon stop it. But I dunno, we don't want to end up like rugby and calling the referee 'sir' and what not.

VAR will totally destroy the game as we know it. Will end up a nonsense like rugby. Thank fuck we will still have the Highland league to go and watch.
