Mcleish Away

Recommended Posts

Even after his tenure with oldco, I always thought as a club legend and (at the time) a fairly decent track record as a manager, McLeish would get a chance to fill the hotseat at Pittodrie before he retitred. Sadly with his health issues being more than just an open secret, I now realise that it's never going to happen. Would have been a far better appointment for us than Alex f@ckin Miller and he should have been brought here before he had the chance to join Hibs. If nothing else, he certainly wouldn't have entertained the Winters/Dodds fiasco ever happening.

Hope he now enjoys a long retirement with his health improving (unlikely). No matter what, he will always be a Dons legend

Surprised the SFA have acted in enough time to potentially save the qualifying campaign. Usually they don't.

My only issue with this is at the moment David Moyes ticks all the SFA's most important boxes - Scottish, unemployed and not very good - so I can see him getting the job and not being much of an upgrade on Eck.

He's not "one of the boys" though having never really worked up here.

McInnes to Scotland, Clarke to the Dons and Steven Gerrard to the graveyard. Its all falling into place.

You think the SFA would be willing to treble McLeish's wage to get DM on board?

Clarke is Fulham's first choice to take over in the summer. That is where he will be heading.

Gerrard to the graveyard I'd take. But I'd far rather it was sevco as a whole getting planted

It would sum up Scottish Football if they went for Moyes.

Moyes will want to hang fire till the summer to see what gigs become available down South. I'd imagine he will be in with a shout for West Brom now that Neil has turned it down to stay at Preston. There's bound to be at least 3 or 4 other vacancies in the Championship and that will be his preferred choice of job at this point. If he hasn't got anything by August then he might be interested in the Scotland job but could the SFA wait that long with games coming up the following month? And would they trust him not to go running off to the first English club that came calling mid contract as McLeish did?

I'm now starting to think that Mackay is a shoo in for the job. Cheap as chips and totally shyte

How has it taken a month to do this. Yet again the SFA are a joke.

You'd like to think they've waited to get someone lined up before punting Eck but I won't hold my breath.

I think if approached McInnes would go. Think hes running out of patience for his next gig down south and it's probably the biggest job he's realistically going to get away from Aberdeen if he ever leaves.

Sarcasm, surely?
