Henry
Forget gourmet restaurants and gastrofied pubs, the best food experience in the UK costs £7.30 and is served with harbour views. Choosing tradition over trends, Lonely Planet ranked eating fish and chips at number 31 in its Ultimate Eatlist, a new guide to 500 of the most memorable food experiences around the world, and recommended The Bay Fish and Chip Shop in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, as selling the finest in the country. “Considering the setting, the sustainability and the beautifully cooked fish, is [the Bay] the best fish and chip shop in the world? The constant queue suggests so,” says the guide. https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2018/aug/15/uk-best-fish-and-chips-foodie-bucket-list-lonely-planet-bay-stonehaven Link to comment
Poodler
It's certainly the best in the NE, that I've tried. I maintain that Brae in Shetland is the best in the country though Link to comment

For Fecks Sake
The Bay is indeed a cracking chipper, however if your down that way the Quayside in Gourdon is also fantastic - sit in upstairs overlooking the harbour or the take away downstairs. Link to comment

Bobby Connor
There are two good chip shops in Scotland. The one at the harbour in Peterhead and the one in Anstruther. All of the others need to smarten up their act. 1 Link to comment
manboobs109
Dali's in Guardbridge, Cromar's in St Andrews, Libo's in Cupar, The Gorgie Fry in Edinburgh and The Waterfront in Anstruther all do superb fish suppers. The famous one in Anstruther is ok but over rated since the old owner sold it. The report is right though, for £7 - £10 a good fish supper is the best munch you can get for the money. Link to comment
Mouse
Bay is really good but not the best I've ever had, don't get the hype. The square is just as good, need to try the Caron. The Plaice in Portlethen (run by chinkys) was always great. Mike's opposite Pittodrie another good one. Best I had was one in Oban last summer Link to comment
