Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfields heart is set on securing a new contract and a starting role at Pittodrie.

The former Scotland squad player, who returned to full fitness following brain surgery last summer, will not be content with a place on the bench and will move on to play first team football.

"Part of the cancer". This term really makes me cringe.

Langfield was a sound keeper 95% of the time, on the bench for Scotland quite a few times so certainly was nowhere near the worst in the league. Will mainly be remembered for his bottle in semi finals and against dundee united... and especially semi finals AGAINST dundee united!!

Would be happy if he stayed on a reduced terms contract as 2nd choice.

Maybe he was a sound keeper for 95% of the time, but the other 5% of the time on the park he'd make a howler and we'd concede a goal. It's not worth the risk having someone so capable of making mistakes that even his own team mates call him "clangers".

Sounds a bit like our current keeper then.
