  1. aye, the sphell is pish. dont have to be great to get 3rd / 4th. just have to be slightly less crap than anyone else. we are plenty capable of that
  2. thelin, being a non shite manager, will get more out of these guys. we obvs need more players but a little (any) organization and some actual bona fide tactics and we will see improvements. add to that mcinnes wont be at killie much longer and we are 8 from 5th...it really wouldnt take much to be 4th.
  3. this is correct. id add the US media seems to be under the misapprehension that israel, as a state that was attacked, isnt under any obligation to follow international rules. yes, they were brutally attacked, but they are subject to rules that hamas, as a terrorist organization isnt. it drives me nuts when they "forget" this. yes, israel can "defend itself", no they cant just do whatever they want. and it hurts US foreign policy and world standing to be their international lawyer.
  4. i think they didnt believe hamas would go ahead with it. there had been "stability" as far as the israelis were concerned for years. they had, in their own minds, successfully bought off hamas and the international community had largely moved on. the entire (almost) selling point of quasi fascist religious nutjobs is they bring security, the strongman theory of politics. unfortunately, for them, those types of regimes tend to miss signals cos the incentives for those who share the power, such as the military or government ministers, is to not question the assumption their leadership is bringing security. so when you get underlings bringing reports of hamas fighters training for an assault these regimes tend to dismiss that. and thats assuming the reports ever get to the decision makers.
  5. just get rip roaringly drunk. thats the traditional cure for everything
  6. the county result was a bad one for us. sevco are 39 points ahead of us, what they do is irrelevant. county are now 5 behind us....thats kinda relevant.
  7. i carried 1700 lbs of flooring up ap some stairs, unboxed it, and sorted it. felt good
  8. this is a chat room so ... "i think" is the basis of everything isnt it? unless you think youll get the head of mossad telling us what happened then guesswork is best youre gonna get
  9. Not sure about that. They defo saw it but they didn’t think Hamas would do it for a variety of reasons. And that’s probably a function of arrogance and their current government, which seems blinded by right wing dogma, into thinking they are gods chosen ones. Either way, a massive intelligence failure borne out of incompetence. I think there is zero chance they would have let it happen if they knew it was going to happen.
  10. Yeah. Agreed. We are seeing Israel right wingers already call for a response. In a sane world they’d just move on. Mealy mouthing from the US too saying they won’t take part in a direct attack on iranian soil whilst continuing to provide the support that makes that possible. Biden nearing an inflection point here. He wants to win the general in November and this is beginning to hurt him. I’m sure you’ve seen it change in your time here, the us public support of Israel is in decline but it’s institutions aren’t responsive to that
  11. Iran was saying they would do something so it’s not like us / israel leaked anything. The oct 7 thing was likely down to Israel not reading the signals very well despite there being plenty of signals. That’s what happens when you are a quasi religious fundamentalist state….you are so preoccupied with your own feeing of superiority it makes you lazy. Here in the US the media really is awful at this. The bbc, sadly, also seems to be. It’s beginning to turn here a little bit but there is a disturbing and well established pattern of not criticizing Israel, especially on the settler stuff, whilst pretending Hamas are just doing this for no particular reason. They often provide zero context.
  12. iran must have known that not much would get through. makes them look like they avenged the embassy thing whilst not actually starting WW3, so thats a W for them. israel would do well to just say some rhetoric stuff and move on without attacking back but when you arent restrained by the normal code of international relations you probably do something dumb.
  13. might be. its a bit of fun and its MA. its how they roll
