Aberdeen V St Mirren

Recommended Posts

No we played our best football in December. Get it wide and in the box. It's our strength.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you. My point is that McInnes, in signing Stewart, chose to go in a different direction style wise. Given that was on the back of our most successful period of the season, it was risky strategy. As much as I like Stewart, I just don't think he and McInnes are a good match.

You can add me to the Shinnie bandwagon...

When on form his drive and passion make him a valuable asset. Off form he gets found out as his skillset as a pure midfielder is bang average. His passing beyond simple 10-20 yard balls is poor, totally one footed, gets a nosebleed if he reaches the opposition penalty box and despite his disciplinary record being vastly improved this season, is still prone to needless bookings often early on in games that leave him walking a tightrope for the rest of the game.

On balance I hope he stays because when he is good he is usually very good. But if he's for the off, he is eminently replaceable.

Ferguson is twice the player Shinnie is folks.

You heard it here first.

Easily. Even more so in terms of value for money.

Shinnie could leave the team now & not be missed & we'd be a massive wage better off.

You have some delusional view of what Shinnie brings to the team not just in value for wage but in general footballing abilities.

If I were given a choice right now of only keeping one of Ferguson or Shinnie at Aberdeen (even on same wages) I would hands down pick Ferguson over Shinnie.

Shinnie is more effective against better opposition when it's more about breaking up play and getting tackles in. Against weaker opposition, he is very average because we are looking fir him to be creative. On that score, he is not a top quality player.

We've known we needed a genuine creative player since before the season even began.  We've guys who'll fight for the ball, but we've no-one with the finesse or creative vision to be a reliable source of dangerous balls.

We need someone with dangerous balls.

You think he is a 'colossus' lol

If you cannot see that as an example of being seen as overrated then there really is no hope for you as any kind of authority in terms of judging a footballer.

You lost any right of credit right then.

He is a colossus at breaking up play, this is correct.

One of the best in the business at it and has a fantastic engine.

You'll be slating Ferguson in a few years let's be honest.

He's no way athletic enough. Got brushed aside a few times. Too slow and too unfit.

Would argue he's not that type of player and mcinnes would have known this when scouting him. Very good at what he was. He's a cool head in there who retains possession very well and can link defence and attack.

Totally pointless exercise playing shinnie and Ferguson in there together for 90% of games.

Correct he's a tackler. NOTHING more.

Gets a booking & & then he is a complete waste of a shirt for the most part as his tackling strengths are then practically gone.

He offers little to nothing more than the odd tackle & the odd wee bitching comment towards the ref.

Wage thief basically. We could easily get far better/more worthy for the wages we pay (& offer to increase ffs) to have him.

Rip up his contract offer now. Not just for him insulting us by not telling us what he's doing (like he's some kind of star) but for the insulting levels of footballing abilities he has generally shown to somehow con the genius that is McInnes into offering him our highest wages lol

Needs to sit in front of the back 4. Get ball, head up, pick a pass.

Leave the dirty work for others.

How many times today did we get the ball and just dunt it up field? Brutal at times.

.. would be interesting to know how many assists they have between them this season.

Exactly and that's what he's very good at. I'd like to see him get an extended run in the team. If he can't last 90, bring deano on to replace him. Get his minutes up. Start preparing for next season, which is obviously going to be without shinnie.

Nonsense.

Ferguson clearly has footballing skills & is still so young/inexperienced. He also has as much if not more fight/balls about him as Shinnie already. He's not just a tackler like Shinnie & a completely one footed one at that.

Ferguson can attack a ball in the box as well, has strengths to fight for an aerial ball.

Shinnie is vastly over rated & over paid in terms of comparable return for wages in the team.

Probably only Hoban gives less value for money & that's only because of injuries.

Shinnie probably earns the wage he gets from us if he was getting that wage in the overinflated wage levels down south but he doesn't earn his wages for us compared to 99% of his team mates & he most certainly doesn't earn the right to string us along for one of (if not) our highest paid player offer

That’s mental even for you fnd. Sterling effort

Yeah, if you could maybe not associate that trolling shithead with my people and get out of the 20th century, that would be great, thanks.

Fucking football fans man. Sometimes there aren't enough Ibrox/Bradford/Hillsborough disasters.

Hope you die off soon.

Fnd ignores all positives such as Cosgrove and Ferguson, spoils the narrative

Shite you speaking now?

I have never slated either of them. Quite the opposite in fact.

I maybe began to lose faith that Cosgrove would start scoring sometime but still I liked him as a player & what he brought the side.

Shinnie is the only player I really have any gripes with as he isn't worth the wage for what he brings. He's a very limited footballer but his erratic tackling makes up for this for some.

May I have had a go about also, as he's been another waste of wages/transfer fee overall.

People don't like it when you point out things like this. Mostly because they have no real argument against the points.

The return of GMS has been the one that has puzzled me recently. He seems to be an automatic starter but performances have been poor since his return. Our best run of form this season seemed to come when he was injured.

Earlier in the season we were fkd if he didn't turn up.

Thankfully we learned to adapt without him when he got injured & in fact the whole team actually improved/took more responsibility I guess but since his return we have indeed regressed again.

McLennan seems a far better option than GMS on current form.

What because I praise Ferguson (maybe a lil too much) & slate Shinnie?

Don't forget I am comparing them for value for money/wages especially. In fact, Ferguson brings far more than twice the player of Shinnie in terms of value for wages if truth be told.

Shinnie runs about & throws in the odd erratic tackle to scare a few opponents out of a game. Some think this makes him a footballer.

Poor mans Scot Brown but with a little less arrogance & a lot less footballing abilities (& Brown is also hugely overrated by many in terms of footballing abilities)

I stand by my statement in that hands down I would chose Ferguson over Shinnie if we were only allowed to keep one of the two at the club.

Shocking performance from both teams, Stmidden were awful but we were worse, can't think of any dons player that deserves pass marks, maybe Mclennan, tactics were pathetic 2 wide payers were pathetic, Stewart was painfully slow and the midfield was non existent, Cosgrove was very ordinary and Devlin and Lowe were very bad. We simply just didn't turn up against a very poor team. Some of these players i.e Shinnie, GMS & Stewart need to take a reality check as to actually how good they are and where they think they can go

Utter shite. That you & delmonte come out with that shite.

Just because a comment on negatives as well as positives when they are there doesn't mean I only comment on one.

Yous only seem to focus on these things & get overly protective. Just like delmontes May love in. He thinks he can do no wrong lol.

You may not like it but I call a spade a spade. Whether that is in praise or in credit.

You ignore everything but focus on the negativity from others because you are over protective basically. Some would say to the levels of happy clapping window licking ;)
