Eh? All pubs, but serve very decent food so best of both worlds.

There stopped being a distinction between restaurants and pubs in about 1985 didnt there?

I was in The Archibald Simpson on Tuesday for the Scotland match. 6.49 for a 8oz rump steak and that came with a pint as well. :charlie:

Dunno about big parties but best for me is http://lastella.co.uk/. Yatai was a wee tempter too (guessing thats fucked now...?), but La Stella is hard to beat, especially if it's for what could be described as "scottish food". Mainly sea food, very (very) well done.

Aye ken. :( Only visit every so often but went there when it was the full experience. My gfs french living in paris and it shat from a great height on anything there we've been to (prob would cost 10 times, literally, as much for the same there). Having said that if I had to pick for pure ability would go for La Stella but for the overall effect Yatai was pretty magic too.

Damn lucky in Aberdeen for decent restaurants lots of pretty decent wee places kicking about.

Not sure what happened. I went when it was beside the theatre first of all and thought it was amazing, then when I went to it at Justice Mill Lane I thought I had died and gone to heaven. More expansive menu, good vibe about the place and I used to eat my body weight in sushi. Then it went back to beside the theatre and they changed the menu to Scottish-Asian fusion, which meant no more sushi  I didn't go back and it closed down a few months later.

On a side note, I used to have this Japanese lemonade that was in a weird bottle with a glass ball floating in it. It was really fine but hadn't seen it since my last visit to Yatai. When in Copenhagen in the summer, I visited a sushi bar and they had it on the menu. So I got really excited about tasting this lemonade again only to be told that no where in the world has it now as the factory got washed away in the tsunami :(

Went to the Foyer the other night and the food was unbelievably good. Service good too, was a bit sceptical when reading about being #1 on trip advisor but definitely deserves the accolade.

I could be wrong but I think the problem with Yatai was a change in regulations surrounding food preparation.

It effectively made their menu illegal

Tropeiro is excellent EPK.

Keep your card on green and away you go. 22 well spent when you're leaving absolutely filled to the brim.

The peppered steaks are awesome, stinky farts the next day like.

When they ask you if you want the cocktail at the start, take one (6) but it's worth it, well fine. . . . only take one though, second time round it doesn't taste as nice, but the first is superb.

8/10 from Roberto.

Cheers.

Could well be worth a visit, however going by there online booking, they only have tables available at 6pm and 915pm, and that's far from fucking ideal.

And BTW, check your PM from a few weeks ago...

Tropeiro is ok, but nothing too special when we went. We had the private room so probably missed out on the general atmosphere. If you were planning on Prime Cuts, take your money to Malmaison instead. Best steak in town (in my opinion).

I don't have any PM fella?

I haven't had een since I was back from Maldives I don't think....

9.15 is okay time to eat actually, it's not too bad being late. Head to Society for few Grey Gooses and few cocktails / beer. Nae a bad wee bar and just round corner from Society. Less pricks in there than will be in Monkey House.

It is pish IMO. Only good for stuffing your puss until you feel sick. It is not the place to go for a nice meal.

I was singularly underwhelmed by Malmaison. Go to the Courtyard. It may not have steak on the menu though but the food is fantastic and don't suffer from the push service La Stella has.

3 differing opinions on places already, I guess it just depends on different tastes from people.....

Might depend on the amount of wine. :thumbup1:

Last visit to Malmaison, the service was poor I have to say. Seems to be students employed these days. But still found the food to be excellent.

Wherever you go, don't go to Yu in Union Street. It's shit. Still struggling to find a decent Chinese since bastard Sainsburys shutdown the Royal China in Holburn Street.

China Town on Dee Street has always been really nice every time I've been.

The salt and pepper ribs to start with, superb.

My usual benchmark for whether a Chinese restaurant is good or not, is to have a look in the window and see if there's plenty chinese dining in there along wi the other punters. They'll flock to the decent places: works 9 times out of 10.

I'd like to point out that Stoney seems to be a decent bloke.
I met him at Tynecastle last season and he seemed spot on to me.
So I'd lay off the abuse to him lads.

After I was in the Maldives and seen the Chinese personal hygiene - you'll be lucky if I go to a Chinese ever again, absolutely disgusting people. I'll never bad the French for their ignorance ever again after witnessing the tiddlywinks.

Spitting in the restaraunt where we were eating, big greeners.

Barging infront of folk in the queue, by the end I snapped and gave a few digs to the ribs to a few of them with the elbows, they soon backed off.

Their hygiene is disgusting!
