Aberdeen sack Derek McInnes

Recommended Posts

I agree with the majority of the post, but I think the last paragraph is probably going to be the opposite of what will happen. I think we're already starting to cut back, with McInnes saying he's not going to be paying fees for players this summer. As much as Milne and McInnes will be saying budgets won't be affected, they are bound to be.

We won't pay fees unless we sell a player. Jonny hayes' fee allowed us to spend...

A club the size of Aberdeen, and the manager coming out and saying we won't be paying fees for signings. The tight arsed millionaire Milne must have promised Mcinnes something to come out with that statement. Chairman and directors are as tight as a ducks arse. Mcinnes your a yes man nodding donkey to Milne and company.

Aberdeen have had countless 'biggest game of the season so far' under McInnes but I think it is fairly safe to say that this coming transfer window is the biggest one of his career to date.

I would much prefer it to be another manager as McInnes went stale a couple of years ago imo but as we are stuck with him, I hope the club back him in this window more than ever before. A lot more. He needs big help from the board now just to cling onto third place at best next season.

People can never be happy eh? McInnes has been a phenomenal manager for Aberdeen. He's pulled us out of a pretty dire situation, he's got us to both league and Scottish cup finals, we're one of only a few clubs that isn't swimming in debt. McInnes doesnt have the same resources as THE Rangers have, and yet we've gone and split the old firm!

This McInnes debacle reminds me of when people wanted Fergies head in the 80s.I get it, we didnt come second again and that hits hard, but thats not because of McInnes. The amount of injuries we had, bleeding hell we had a majority of the main team out for most of the season. Lets not forget some really dodgy ref calls as well.

With the new training facilities and Stadium, McInnes is going to be able to make even better signings and we'll have an even bigger budget. I'm looking forward to next season and seeing what greatness McInnes is gonna pull off.

One of the worst posts ever. Absolute tosh.

That's what I don't get with all this "he steadied the ship" crap... Aye he did... Now the ship is looking a bit worse for wear and in need of a refit... We're not quite at the "do we need to build a new ship" stage yet but you can only hide the cosmetic effects for a finite amount of time.

A lot of the club's PR in the past few days is totally giving out the "we're a steady ship now" vibes but it's the lack of detail or reading between the lines of some of that document yesterday that does beg the question - Are we aiming high enough ? Part of me is desperate for DMc to take the Scotland job but my expectations have been tempered by the realisation that no one is going anywhere and we're stuck with the direction we're heading in for the foreseeable future at least...

How high are you hoping to aim?

There needs to be a realistic spell of progression, otherwise you end up like Hearts, Dundee United, the huns etc.

Europe. Said for year til I'm blue in the face that we can't make any more money domestically and arguable with a stronger Sevco the money that we earned from Finals and 2nd place is going to get smaller not bigger... And fuck me if we're ALWAYS ill prepared for the biggest games of the season scrabbling together new signings the day the squad has to be in with UEFA... Whether we get a decent draw or not - we should be prepared with a full squad and if we do progress to the group stages some more cash should be made available to add a couple of extra players to see the squad fresh for the extra games. It's not rocket science... I suspect the same nonsense will happen this season as it has the past few seasons. Our big aim is to be a Top 100 European team... to do that we actually need to be in it (the fuck does getting to the Qualifying stages count...). That's my expectation for the club... Not much more we can do domestically.... It's all about Europe and if that makes me deluded, unrealistic or many of the stupid insults bandied the way of fans who have high expectation or ambition, I'd retort that those fans who are happy with what we've got are the ones who should be checking they're levels of expectation and ambition... We all deserve better and we all want better, we should all be collectively coercing the board to deliver that.

So what are you expecting the board to do, out of interest?

Milne has said yesterday McInnes is about for 10 years. He told someone in the press to remind Derek he's made a "10 year commitment." Absolute and utter insanity if this is the case. 10 year promises being handed out, what if we continue to decline? Proof at how incompetent Milne is, now he's hired a competent manager he's got no qualms in making 10 year guarantees. What an arsehole.

It would be nice to get our squad more or less in place early. Our best season under McInnes was arguably 2016-17 when most of the first team were in place from the season before. We won't have the benefit of that continuity this year so would be nice to get some key players secured early.

Unfortunately when you're on a tight budget you can't always get what you want when you want and have to gamble on getting value closer to the deadline.

10 years of job security taking him to about 50 with good money banked.

Then he could have another gamble in England with less harm done to his reputation if it goes wrong having had 10 fairly consistent years with one club under his belt.

Falling back on the Scotland job in the event of failure in England

Just wanted to flag this post up again. Take a bow sir.
