Scotlands Useless Referees

Recommended Posts

In other Scottish football governance news it appears that the Scottish Championship teams might have seen through the ruse that is the proposed 5th division.  Apparently they have been told that "old firm colt teams" will be allowed to be promoted to Championship level under the proposals and are going to vote against.

Good.

Thing is though, if the authorities send the message that a particular player simply won't be punished, then that player's opponents know that matters have been left in their own hands.

Sevs had best be selling Morelos this window - he's a marked man now, and imo it's only a matter of time before he gets done properly.

100% agree.

The 5th division was never being set up for the benifit of Scottish Football, but to allow the ugly sisters to bring in Colt Teams.

From the bbc article on Morelos; “But all three incidents were seen in their entirety by match referee John Beaton so no retrospective action can take place on this basis.”

Can someone explain how McKenna therefore got a retrospective ban for his challenge against Celtic when the referee was looking directly at the incident?

And gave the foul iirc.

It’s the justification I like. Because referee John Beaton saw the incidents at the time and took no action then no retrospective action could or will be taken.

I’m so glad they’ve cleared that up.

It's a hopelessly shit and utterly see through reason.

The concept that what a referee apparently sees or doesn't see overalls what anyone else can see is utterly nefarious and stupid and complete my intangible.

It's the biggest get out of jail free card ever and allows absolutely anything they want to go unscrutinoused and unpunished for the rest of time.

Completely illogical rule as well as it happens.

Saw that yesterday on Facebook. Is that even Beaton tho? Tbh even if it is I’m shocked they’re so surprised as well known he was a season ticket holder at that lot. Funnily enough I didn’t realise again until yesterday that he was the ref for the game we beat them with Maddison’s free kick and the bread maker lost the plot with him at end of the match ha ha

What are the chances of Defoe getting a retrospective sanction for the blatant dive yesterday?

It seems like they just act on incidents which are being moaned about in the papers, which means incidents that have disadvantaged one of the cheeks.

None because Andrew Dallas, the professional that he is, asked him if he dived and he said no. No further action required.

Even he admitted some were not penaltys and Michael Stewart said only 2 were but that was including 1 that was NOT given

Watching sportscene one was a blatent dive and two were outside the box

First was a stonewaller though

Aye the 1st pen was the only correct decision for the 4 awarded.
