Any point in keeping Rogers if McInnes doesn't trust him?

If I was Rogers i'd be looking to move on, get first team football elsewhere, if true.

Well, yes. For occasions like Saturday.

I presume for the rest of the season he would have been fine but if we can get a better keeper in during January then we should be doing it.

I think it's a shrewd signing. As tough as the titties may be for Rogers if he gets injured or worse, turns out to be Clangers esque, we'd slaughter McInnes for not bringing in a goal keeper.

That being said I think the position is Rogers' to lose. It would be pretty harsh on the lad if this boy comes straight in as first choice. When was his last competitive game?

If they do it that way then fair enough, let Rogers play for the jersey and if he doesn't look up to it then in comes the loan keeper.

Rogers may not turn out to be brilliant but I think the club should have a good idea of his capabilities and he's played quite a number of games on loan at Falkirk so surely we've seen enough to know his strengths and weaknesses.

According to Newcastle journo if Martin Dubravka passes his medical today Woodman will join Aberdeen. He was on loan at Kilmarnock last season. Seems he's been told he'll be first choice, at least until Lewis is back, big blow for Rogers if true.

Don't follow. If Rogers isn't as good as Lewis, why would it be a blow to him to not be first choice keeper?

Lewis is, at least, the level of keeper Aberdeen need as no1. We are obviously looking at a similar level of keeper to bring in as we have one young lad with no premiership experience and a couple of younger lads as backup till potentially the end of the season.

If Newcastle get Martin Dubravka they are getting a very good keeper. However surely the days are long gone when Aberdeen are relying on getting in third/fourth choice players (Tony Warner et al.) to fill a void in our team. With respect to the boy Woodman we have a more than capable keeper in Danny Rogers and for the sake of a couple of months whilst Joe Lewis is out surely there is a greater need for other positions to be strengthened rather than getting in a keeper?

I think the reason may be that McInnes just doesn't rate Rogers but was happy for him to sit on the bench as a relatively inexpensive back up but secretly hoped that he wouldn't have to play him other than maybe the odd match here and there. Lewis being out for 2-3 months has forced his hand

It's still 8 games or so. Will be a massive bearing on finishing 2nd

It's bound to be a blow to the back up keeper that when the first choice keeper gets injured the club recruit another keeper?

What happens if Rogers breaks his wrist the day after the window closes?
