easily? I doubt that. maybe a few of the bigger clubs in League 1 would pay that for their Top player(s), but on average, based on some googling, you'd be looking at 1.5k - 2.5k in League one.

We lost out on McGeouch and Jason Naismith in the summer as the offers they received from Sunderland and Peterborough blew our offers right out the water. We offered to make McGeouch our highest paid player at the club. And Rossco don't pay their players peanuts so I'd imagine our offer to Naismith was fairly substantial too. Not sure what googling you did to come up with your figures but I'm fairly certain the average wage in EFL 1 is a helluva lot more than the average Scottish Premier wage.

Sunderland? a club who's been in the Premiership not that long ago? A club who were in the Championship last season? and also in crippling debt? They are the exception, not the rule. I did say that SOME of the bigger clubs could hit those wages, but the average across the clubs is as stated. I was questioning the "easily" part of the statement.

I googled "Average wages League 1".  That's how these search engines work. You type in the words of the thing you want to find out about. I also made sure to check the dates as well.

It is hard to believe a club with a seating capacity of 49,000 which would be top 10 in England plays in League 1.  So basically the size of Rangers when they sell out. Off topic, I heard they are trying to do a followup season of Netflix's Sunderland series and have an odd record this season with only 2 losses but almost as many draws as wins as they fight for promotion.  Long story.. short... I agree Sunderland is not your average League 1 side.

You never know like. You often see WAGS on social media outing players transfers by being morons.

If it is true and he is away to the evil forces.

The player AFC and The Rangers have all managed to keep it quiet in the build up to 2 massive seasoning defining games. however his wife tells her neighbour over the fence he is off to Rangers??  :hysterical:  :hysterical:

Yeah the problem with that, as I've pointed out before, is that these average wages are for the whole football playing staff....so the average wage is seriously reduced by 16-18 year olds in the youth squads on pretty much minimum wage and under 21's getting their first "proper" contract on a bit more. But when it comes to their first team squads, the average wages would be well above the numbers you quote....hence McGeouch getting £8k/week at Sunderland but being nowhere near their highest paid player. And Naismith getting wages at Peterborough that we couldn't match, again with him being nowhere near their highest earners.

I'd be very surprised if you're able to backup your claim that League 1 clubs pay an average of 10k, Sunderland aside.

Peterborough United players earnt an average of £2,248 per week in the 2017-18 season according to research carried out by footy.com

That’s the 11th highest of teams in League One last season.

Champions Wigan (£5,385) emerged with the biggest weekly wage bill followed by sixth-placed Charlton (£4,843) and runners-up Blackburn Rovers (£4,783).

"Peterborough United made a loss of just under £1.4 million for the financial year ending June 30, 2017

The loss of £1,394,054 compares unfavourably with a loss of £194,774 for the year ending June 2016. The club fared even worse in the year ending June 2015 as a loss of £1,931, 932 was reported. The last recorded Posh profit arrived in the year ending May 2014 when the £6 million transfer of Dwight Gayle to Crystal Palace contributed greatly to a profit of £1.8 million. "

Peterborough turnover 7 million. Stop being silly Ten Caat.

Father in law had Greg Halford in his taxi today as he came off his flight up here.

They were talking about shinnie. Halford played with his brother at Birmingham and reckons Graeme will be moving to England as he sees the money his brother makes.

Halford also said league 1 in England players easily pull in 10-15k a week which surprised me. Didn't expect it to be quite that high.

He leave a decent tip?

Fit? You said:

So he's nowhere near highest earner, but we can't afford him when the Peterborough average is 2.2k, and Aberdeen's is 2.6k?

Did you formally give out loans for RBS?

I think his point, unless I am mistaken, is that the first team squad will be on the highest wages at a club...but the average will be brought down when you include employees wages, such as secretary and so on.

I have no idea if he's right.

Correct...

The wages don't include secretaries etc just the youth players/ reserves who are on way below the average wage, thus dragging it downwards. There's a few incredibly dim gadgies's on here who obviously don't understand basic arithmetic.

The club have offered the biggest package ever to keep shinnie, for me I'd rather he went than have us fork out a silly amount of money to keep an average at best midfielder who can't tackle, has limited shooting and passing.  If he goes to rangers then fuck him for stringing us along and going to them but if they want to pay him over £10k a week it shows just how desperate they are.

I know, I'm pointing out that if you apply the same criteria to the Aberdeen figures we pay 400 quid a week more per average.

To say Peterborough can blow us out the water for a "nowhere near top earner" is just wrong.

So why did Naismith join them in preference to us? Better for his career??? I don't think so....

Agreed.

Can't believe we're looking to make him our highest paid player ever. That's ridiculous.

The Hun fans sat back and watched their club die by paying silly fees/wages for players. I'd hate to go through that whole scenario of watching your club go into administration, then liquidation, watch players transfer to new clubs, not play in Europe because qualifying club ceased to exist, some players move to a new Aberdeen and then start off as a new club in the 3rd division. Its not worth it.
