The Mckenna Dilemma

Recommended Posts

Take it and buy 5 really good 1 million pound players. Alternatively, our scouting network could identify 25 semi decent £200k players. Exciting times ahead.

Who would all instantly demand wages commensurate with being million pounds players (I'd guess around the £10k/week mark). We pay our top players now around £5k/week. So over a 3 year contract for each we'd need to find 5 X £750k over our present budget to accomodate them. And no doubt we'd have a few of our own players demanding pay rises at least equalling what the new players are getting (Joe, Shinnie if he stayed, Devlin, even Ferguson would all have a case).

Anyway what would/ will happen is Wiggy would hand over £1million tops for new recruits and hive the rest off for Kingsford phase 2

Apparently the £5m offer from Stoke has now arrived and been rejected. As of last night they had not bid £5m

Dons quoting £8m

Pete O'Rourke on twitter. I think he is part of HITC which have sometimes been wildly off previously

The section in bold may be the greatest understatement in 'Hat history.

Even Phil MacGobbledy-Gook has more credibility.

As we’ve repeatedly said we need time to source a replacement when McKenna does leave, if anything clubs bidding on the last day of the window will need to pay a premium for getting him now. It’s promising there appears to be a number of clubs interested, great opportunity to take advantage of the inflated English market

Do you not think stoke etc will be wanting their multi million pound defender in their team for the second half of the season, to help with promotion chances?

Do you not think Aberdeen hold all the cards in this situation and can make those type of demands? It’s far too late for us to get a decent replacement and we still have lot of big games ahead of us. In addition clubs may want to pay money for him now knowing he is theirs rather than potentially pay more or miss out on him in the summer.
