Sooper-hanz
You don't think it's weird that he has now done them on both legs at his age? The same one failing again would be more expected surely If you don't go in hard enough you'll get injured, thats what i was always told. Maybe Tommo doesn't go in hard enough? Link to comment

Rabiusmaximus
You don't think it's weird that he has now done them on both legs at his age? The same one failing again would be more expected surelyPossibly... Depends on the person. Psychologically after that kind of injury you try to protect it more afterwards. Therefore more stress actually gets put on the other knee, whether landing or turning etc. So to answer your question... No it's not weird. You have a greater chance of injuries to the other knee after that kind of injury. Link to comment
Rabiusmaximus
I appreciate your sentiment, but I think you are wrongOK... Care to explain why I am wrong? Link to comment

Sooper-hanz
^^ That doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. It's a question of circumstance. Link to comment
Rabiusmaximus
I'm not a scientist I just don't believe what you say to be true The ACL isn't something that is stronger after it breaks, like a bone It is weakerSo for that reason alone I think it's weird it was his other one that wentNeither am I, but it is undeniably true that you have an increased chance of injuring the other acl afterwards for the reasons I gave above. And yes it is weaker, which means you are going to put extra stress on the healthy one to compensate. That is why it is not really weird to suffer an injury your other leg. 1 Link to comment

It's not like they stick a few stitches through your ligament, they basically replace it completely. Just bad luck for him I think. Link to comment

It does sound quite easy. 3 Link to comment

fine-n-dandy
Not long f'n'd, you should give it a shot.Well I just serviced three old outboards that were goosed & after a few transplants from one. Ended up with two good runners.Knee surgeries can't be much harder. Just find a few of these fat fkrs from the documentaries that are stuck on their couch & buy their ACL's (they don't need them) then transplant them onto rich sports men/women. Easy Peasy Link to comment

Sooper-hanz
Yeah, fuck getting it repaired then going through rehab and coming back potentially better and earning big wonga to set you up for life.., go to college and get a certificate in social work or massage therapy. Link to comment
tightbreeks
He played as well as anyone at Easter road, made it look easy. Once the midfield followed the midfield runners, hoban was always there to mop things up and make the right decision. Come back soon hoban, we need you! Link to comment
TheRock
Should we be encouraged that they are saying he's out for the rest of the season (which is only 3 months) rather than saying he's going to be out for a year or something? Not that it matters to us, in terms of him playing for us again. Unless...if he is only out until the summer, we wouldn't offer him a contract would we? He's obviously shown glimpses of being a quality player but the concern everyone would have with signing him is obvious. Link to comment
aberdeen1970
Well we've signed a few players recently who have had one knee knackered. Two might be pushing it though. Link to comment
Shinniesta
If he could recover in time for pre season training I wouldn't be against McInnes offering Hoban a one year contract on a low basic salary topped up with appearance based bonus payments. Yes it would be risky but if he got injured again he'd be on a low basic wage. If he stayed fit and played most weeks I'd imagine any agreed bonus payments would put him amongst our top earners. But a fit Hoban playing every week would always be one of the top earners at AFC anyway the boy is a class footballer. Let's hope for his own sake he's just been massively unlucky and isn't made of glass. I imagine Watford will release him at the end of his contract. Link to comment
