  1. Not sure Bologna would have sold Ferguson this summer with 3 years left on his contract but they certainly won't be selling him this summer now. Lets hope he gets back playing in the second half of next season and gets a move to a bigger club next summer.
  2. Very little interest in this game we ain't beating the tims at Hampden their tails will be up even more after today's result. 0-4.
  3. 1/ McInnes. 2/ Calderwood. 3/ Brown. 4/ Robson. No-one else worth mentioning. Brown put decent foundations in place for McInnes he signed some good player like McGinn and Hayes. Robson was so poor in the league this season but we had a decent euro run and got to a cup final. And getting us 3rd last season from the position we were in when he took over (think we were 10 points behind Hearts) was a great achievement winning 8 of the last 9 league games pre split. That run last season basically got us a £5m windfall. Big win against 2022 EL winners Frankfurt. He was too tactically inflexible and didn't rotate the team enough but I'm pretty sure he didn't have much input in most of the players we signed in the summer.
  4. I can't remember I try to forget that day just like I try to forget most games against them. It's like I said no matter what formation we try against them they still virtually always pump us. They are far superior so they will win regardless of what formation we go with the players we have clearly don't believe they can beat them.
  5. Yeah I was thinking the European formation might be the way to go but we've tried many different formations against Celtic in the past and nothing seems to work we always shit the bed against them. Celtic have zero fear of Aberdeen they'd be considerably more worried if they were facing Killie, Hibs, Motherwell, Hearts or St Mirren at Hampden next week but they know they can roll us over without too much fuss. It's a depressing state of affairs and a damning indictment of where we currently are.
  6. Agreed I've got zero enthusiasm for the game next week we're just making up the numbers this current AFC side is utter tripe. We haven't beaten Celtic at Hampden since 1992 and that certainly isn't changing next week. Celtic will swarm all over us just like they always do and as per usual we'll fold. It'll be 0-3 minimum. I'll go 0-4.
  7. Not true we beat them at Hampden in the 92/93 League Cup semi-final. Remember this guy who scored the winner?
  8. If we sell 10k we'll be doing well we have all seen this film many times before we all know we aren't beating Celtic at Hampden we never do. I think the last time we beat them there was 1992. Viaplay and the BBC got their perfect semi-final draw we always shit the bed at Hampden against Celtic and Hearts have never beaten old or new Rangers at Hampden in their 150 year history. The broadcasters will get the final they are all craving.
  9. You are slightly out with your count the bigot brothers have actually won 87 out of the 111 available domestic trophies since Fergie left in November 86. Of the 24 trophies not won by them in that period Aberdeen have won the most of any other club (4) followed by Hibs, St Johnstone & Hearts (3 apiece), St Mirren, Killie & Dundee Utd (2 apiece) then it's Livi, Raith, ICT, Ross County & Motherwell with 1 trophy each. It's very grim reading for all the clubs outwith the bigot brothers. I would say we have underachieved slightly by not winning a few more of the 24 trophies they didn't win. We really should have won the SC in both 08 & 14 but screwed up royally on both occasions. But apart from that when you look at the sheer dominance of the Glasgow two over the rest it's a stretch for anyone to say we have massively underachieved.
  10. Do Aberdeen, Hearts & Hibs massively underachieve though? Because apart from a couple of fleeting eras in Scottish football when budget differences were nothing like they are today it's always been dominated by two clubs. As a example since Aberdeen were formed in 1903 Hearts & Hibs have won a mere 18 major trophies between them in those 121 years. As a comparison Celtic have won 21 major trophies in just the last 10 years alone. If those clubs couldn't compete with them in eras where tv money, CL prize money & sponsorship weren't factors how on earth can they possibly expect to do it now? Its not unrealistic to expect Aberdeen to challenge for 3rd place/european football every season, win the odd domestic cup, and give the Glasgow two a bloody nose more frequently than we currently do. Those are realistic expectations for Hibs & Hearts too. But to expect a title challenge (even once every 10 or 20 years) from any club outside those two isn't realistic in the modern game. The stats back that up no club outside of the Glasgow two have come remotely close to winning the league since 1991. That's not a coincidence. Football has changed a lot since 91.
  11. We have County's number this season I'm confident we will win this one. We really should take a minimum of 7 points from our 3 remaining pre split games on paper County, St Johnstone and Motherwell all have tougher games to come than we do. I'm trying to be positive as we have managed to win 2 our last 3 games and we have definitely defended more resolutely in those games.
  12. If I wasn't already convinced we're losing today I'm even more convinced after seeing the team. I know we don't have too many options but Leven has managed to make the midfield even more powderpuff than it was on Wednesday night. Duk tends to show up against Motherwell and he's benched. The team clearly needed freshening up from Wednesday night but instead he's stuck with 10 of them. Polvara would have been worth a shot today instead of Barron who did the square root of fuck all the other night.
  13. Are you just ruling out St Johnstone then? As no-one seems to be mentioning them it seems it's all about either Aberdeen or Ross County for the playoff spot. St Johnstone are only 1 point ahead of us and currently have a worse goal difference. Their 4 games pre split are on paper a fair bit tougher than ours they go to Celtic today and then have Dundee, Hibs & Killie. Compare that with ourselves we have Motherwell, County, Dundee and Livi. I know we are in shite form and can't be relied upon to win any game but I know which set of fixtures I'd prefer to have pre split.
  14. Motherwell have taken 12 points from 8 games since the winter break and won at Ibrox last time out whereas we have only taken 5 points from 11 games in that time. They will be fresh due to a 2 week break whereas no doubt our players will be "tired" after playing 3 games in a week. Motherwell know if they win this game they will virtually be safe from the play off spot so they will have plenty of motivation. Not sure these Aberdeen players know the meaning of the word motivation. 2-0 Motherwell.
