The point is not that rich people exist. The point is that rich people have gotten significantly richer despite everyone else becoming poorer and living under more and more austerity.

The only reason they get richer is because they are better placed to deal with inflation.

No the reason they get richer is that taxes such as VAT impact the poor to a greater degree than the rich and yet in these times of all in it together austerity, VAT has gone up, while the top rate of tax and corporation tax have come down.

I have no issue with the definition of capitalism, which only sets out that the means of production shall be privately owned and so not state owned.

I used to be a capitalist, but now would identify as a distributist, even though capitalism serves me personally well, given my high intelligence and large array of talents (hahaha! - joking of course; no system is doing well, while many remain disadvantaged)

 

Distributism is the wild idea that property, power, and wealth should not be concentrated in the hands of a few tyrants running the State, nor in the hands of a few oligarchs running a corporation, but should instead be owned by all human beings, who have a natural right to private property, work and the fruit of the labors supplying their needs and the needs of their families. It is hostile to both communism (the concentration of wealth, power and property in the hands of the State) and capitalism (the concentration of wealth, power and property in the hands of a few oligarchs). It prefers the small over the ginormous, the local over the multinational corporation, the family over the economic machine.

Distributism bears some similarity with one of my own preferred social matrices, Anarchism, but is probably closer to anti-statism.

 

Technocracy is the only way we'll get out of the shit we're currently in, however. Whichever country realises and implements a technocratic system first will win everything forever.
