Dundee United's Lawrence Shankland has been rewarded for his sparkling start to the season with a call-up for Scotland's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Russia and San Marino.

Striker Shankland, 24, has scored 13 times in seven Scottish Championship games since signing from Ayr United.

He becomes the first second-tier player to be called up since John McGinn - then at Hibernian - in 2017.

About time! Say what you want about the lad but atleast he scores goals! The squad has been full of strikers with very few goals between them for years!

Current options at the back are truly dire. Are we really so limited that Devlin still makes it in despite having very little form to speak of? Normally id be delighted to see a Don called up but its usually merited, can't really make a case for him right now.

The fact we've had to drop down into the championship shows how desperate we are for a goal scorer, although fair play to Shanks for the call-up. Its all about building for the playoffs now.

Shankland in squad

Wont be long before @@afc_blockhead comes on saying Steve Clarke knows fuckall about football

Girfuy

Did you miss me SNP Mongo?

So being in the Scotland squad is a sign of quality is it?

Answer the question I originally posed dickbrain, why did no-one better than Dundee United offer Shankland anything in the summer?   :whistling:

As for Steve Clarke, he's certainly revitalised this Scotland squad so far with his great managerial skills hasn't he

Tory? Not sure how you work that out independence mong.

No thick boy, I am asking you why if Shankland is so great no one better than Dundee United took him for free in the summer? Answer that one.. I am still waiting.

I never said it means he is shit, it means that a lot of managers don't see him as someone who can make a step up, why might that be? He is in the Scotland squad due to the fucking dire strikers available.

The few hundred players you mention weren't available for free so that's another stupid point.

Go on answer the question I've asked you repeatedly. Talking to you is painful, you do realise that's why no-one likes you don't you?  :checkit:

No problem with Shankland getting a call-up. Always good to see players picked on form rather than reputation. Plus we have next to no options up front otherwise.

You said this on the other thread on saturday

Did you ever see Shankland play for us? He was slow as fuck and not up to it at the top level. Anybody can look good in that shite league.
