John Hughes in the P&J today, extoling Nish's virtues, then says "There was nothing going to happen with the Aberdeen enquiry,"

Was this mentioned last week at the end of the transfer window?

Wasn't mentioned. Aberdeen did however make approaches for over a dozen players last week. some reported, some not.

I like Nish, would have been a decent signing had it been pulled off.

I always thought his surname was rhyming slang, but he does seem to provide a pivot for their attacking formation, that allows Riordan and Stokes etc to play.

Nish scores goals, Miller doesn't score that much.

WRONG.

Miller's goalscoring record is better than Nish's.

according to soccer base:

Nish scores 0.25 goals per game
Miller scores 0.28 goals per game.

Miller has also played at a higher level for all/most of his career than Nish.

shouldnt aberdeen football club be trying to sign someone with a good goalscoring record rather than someone who doesnt have a terrible scoring record?

Ok they're almost identical. Thought Nish had scored more.

Wouldn't be you if you were nit picking for the sake of it. I think you'd find it impossible to find two players having an absolutely identical hit rate over 10 seasons.

Obviously the stats show different, but I'm sure he knocked in a fair few for Killie. Must have a bad memory.

Like MacLean?

We tried to sign striker after striker last week. Little clubs like us are not good in January.

pot, kettle and black.

he did knock in a few goals for Killie - he still doesnt have as good a scoring record as Lee Miller though.

Near enough identical. Like I said you cannot get two players with mirror image scoring record.

I presume you are unhappy about MacLean signing?

I see Stephen Dobbie had a stormer for Blackpool at the weekend too... has the keeper to thank for not getting a hatrick of brilliant goals!

you presume wrongly.

we needed a striker, actually we needed 3 strikers but we got one.

MacLean has decent pedigree, Colin Nish has been bottom end of SPL or lower leagues for much of his career.

Only now at Hibs is he at a decent club - and he isnt first pick most weeks.

We won't get anywhere near Dobbie now. Good luck to the lad; Blackpool are a far better option for him right now. He's scored a couple already, and that should insure his peremanent move.

Clarkson also scored for Bristol.

Targets spanking in goals is not good.
