i disagree.

 

i live near rotterdam and it took me a while to appreciate it.

its a bit of a monstrosity compared with typical dutch architecture but its got a cracking nightlife scene to it.

 

amsterdam itself is good fun too. but its affa cliched. and staggers invariable end up in the rld, which is full of shit over priced pubs full of brits

by all means go to amsterdam but avoid all the other staggers.

Same with Berlin and Hamburg on the underground, but I've seen people getting spot checked a few times, so usually pay.

 

And you are right, German cities are no more expensive than any other city. I actually found Munich relatively cheap (though it was before the Euro exchange rate went downhill).

Sounds better than my mates next week - Fort William on the Friday to climb Ben fucking Nevis on the Saturday. Might have to feign injury and go to a pub and watch the Hibs game instead of climbing the hill, think there might be a few others joining me.

The countryside up by Fort Bill is amazing, Fort Bill itself is an absolute hole! Out with ski season or summer the streets are like night of the living dead, filled with junkies and folk who have shagged their sister, mother and daughter whilst fingering their dad.

To the wedding yes I agree. I'd be telling him to shove Ben Nevis up his arse. Who is the best man? He's more culpable than the groom over this. He's the one supposed to organise the stag night.

Had a day and night in Rotterdam as part of my stagger 5 years ago - we went on an Easy Cruise starting in Amsterdam and taking in Rotterdam and Antwerp before finishing in Brussells. Really enjoyed Rotterdam during the day, went to a few decent bars and cafes - it was a friendly and relaxed place. Didn't enjoy it at night though as we couldn't get in anywhere. Obviously we'd been drinking but we weren't exactly out of our faces - splitting up into smaller groups didn't work either. Eventually I managed to get into a casino but none of my friends had their passports on them to get in so I had to come straight back out again. Ended up going back to the boat to get p1shed instead. Antwerp was much better and obviously Amsterdam is fully geared up for stag parties so you know what you are getting there.
