What about Chaophraya ?  Reasonable choice on their set menu’s so you don’t have to spend ages figuring out what to eat. Quite quiet and romantic without being in your face. Central to Aberdeen for hitting the town afterwards. 
Oh, and the food’s good.

Oops. That’s a bit of a cunt. Maggie’s Grill on Holburn Street looks decent and gets good reviews. Quite small inside. I think us older folk knew it as The Holburn Café (or was that the one further up on the other side).

Always remembered it as Papagallos before Maggie's and The Holburn Cafe was indeed further up on your right hand side beside the foundry and it's now a Pizza Hut.
