Does Anyone Remember This Guy....

He was the first of many, many players... "The best young African players" to paraphrase the club, who would come to Pittodrie to strut their stuff in the Red and White as part of the new link between AFC and South Africa.

And who can forget the talents of..... actually, like AFC's usual pish, this transpired to be nothing more than the usual, empty gobshite from the club.

Did we not also say we were going to try and link up with a Spanish club under Calderwood...and a German one (Moenchengladbach?) under Brown?

That was Espanyol during McGhees reign - Aberdeen tie up deal to sign up La Liga starlets from Espanyol

Mark McGhee has already reaped rewards from that tie-up by landing former Espanyol and Parma defender Davide Grassi after he impressed on trial.

:suicide:

Actually forgot we got Grassi through that set-up. Oh ma heed

I've never worked this one out. Yeah, we signed Grassi, but he had sweet FA to do with Espanyol. It was the 3rd team in Barcalona we signed him from - Sant Andreu. I suspect we rather embarrasingly made a deal with the wrong club, which is why we've heard nothing more of it. Either that or there was never a link up at all, and the DR was just making up its usual shite...

Just watched Katongo's goal, quick feet, pace cutting inside from the left, low drive into the bottom corner, followed by about 8 somersaults and a crazy freestyle dance with his team-mates as a celebration!

Also surprised to see Senegal to exit without gaining a single point, but overall the quality looks shite.

As long as AFC never sign an African goalkeeper we'll be fine.

The standard of goalkeeping in this tournament is atrocious.
