Spent the weekend down in Edinburgh with Mrs FFS and sad to say what a difference in terms of shopping and variety of bars and restaurants etc compared to Aberdeen.

Appreciate the size in population catchment area and add in the tourism, but the St James area is lovely and the new shopping centre puts Union Square to shame. Ok, Princess Street is a bit of a tacky but George St and that St James development more than makes up for it.

Place was heaving with shoppers which added to the overall experience.

Believe the latest Union Street regeneration meeting for Aberdeen got a bit heated with the various property companies getting it in the neck for an overall lack of imagination and approach to filling empty units as well as the owners of these units being grippy bastards wanting top dollar for their, at times, inadequate units.

I’m not saying Aberdeen council are or aren’t useless and that Aberdeen city centre isn’t a shite hole, but you can’t compare the two. 
 

Edinburgh has triple the size of catchment area and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. That’s before the fact Aberdeen had a recession that Edinburgh didn’t experience due to the oil price crash.
