Unless there is some reason we're not aware of as to why some players have not been selected. Campbell should be kicking himself that he's not been selected. Thought he might've gotten in after run of games at the tail end of the season. He's maybe recognised that he needs to be better as he seems to have spent the last few weeks doing extra training which is good to see. Big season for him coming up. Archie Mair is a product of our academy and starts in goal. The captain of U21 Wales side is also a product of our youth academy. Looking at squad Campbell surely has to be in there. Very few in that squad have played the number of first team games he has in SPL. Link to comment

Wester Hailes Skins
Seems to be a lot of chat that Luton's offer blew everybody else out the water. One poster on Kickback saying Hearts are gutted, tried all they could, but the Luton offer is worth THREE TIMES as much. Assuming we pushed the boat to the top of our salary range. We might have offered him £4k-£5k a week. Even assuming Luton went to only £10k, that's ridiculous and shows what Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen are up against. 3 Link to comment

Especially when you consider they have a turnover of similar to Hearts and Aberdeen yet paying double the wages. There turnover was half that of Aberdeen’s prior to getting promoted. Majority of championship clubs are over 100% wages to turnover it’s just utter madness and hope the shit hits the fan sooner rather than later! 1 Link to comment

My father in law is a taxi driver and picked up Greg Halford from the airport when he signed for us. At that time, Shinnie was still deciding where to go...he asked Halford about what sort of cash Shinnie would likely get and was told if he went to Championship probably between 15-20k a week and league 1 would be around 7/8k. Mental cash for the level. Link to comment

On a pounds per minute basis he must be up there as one of our highest ever earners. Link to comment
starryfish
Billy McKay off to Caley Thistle again, he might have been a good option for us, proven scorer on minimal expenditure. 1 Link to comment

True, but he pisses all over the shite that we’ve had in our front line over the past few seasons, Watkins excepted. Albeit, that says more about the shite that we’ve had in our front line over the past few seasons, than McKay Link to comment

starryfish
McKay's Premiership goalscoring record, I think, is second only to Griffiths. Not the type of signing we'd make though. Link to comment
Ten Caat
McKay would have cost about the same as JET. We would have got ourselves a known quantity, if he can score goals for ICT/Coonty then he certainly could for us. But he's 2 years older than JET, who is no spring chicken himself. On balance, I think we signed the right one. 1 Link to comment

strachanmcgheegoal
Always struck me as a Billy Dodds type. Create 10 chances and he was guaranteed to score 1. Problem was create only 1 chance that your season depended on you were still looking at the 1/10 ratio. Link to comment

From season 19-20: "What immediately jumps out from the 80-page report is the widening chasm between the Championship and those below, despite some incredible spending from some in League One which includes Portsmouth and Sunderland. Indeed, the Black Cats’ new owners bemoaned the staggering overspend before hilariously proceeding to do just that themselves in the most recent series of the club’s Netflix documentary. In League One, where 15 of the 24 clubs responded, the average highest earner is on £247,188 (£4,753 a week) and in League Two, where 14 responded, it is £114,020 (£2,192). " Link to comment

You can be certain than Luton will have a good few on £10k/week possibly a bit more (although I'm also certain Campbell won't be one of them....he will still probably have trebled his Motherwell wages though). Championship clubs are living way beyond their means and Luton will be no different. At the top end, gambling on getting them up to the EPL. At the bottom, doing so to avoid relegation to the EFL at all costs. It has to be unsustainable long term though. And when (not if) it all comes crashing down on top of them, hell mend them if a few end up going out of business. Although at least if they do try to go down the sevco newco route, at least the English leagues do make them start right at the bottom rung as newco Bury AFC are doing Link to comment
