Can you use Chromecast for this?

Nope. Chromecast doesn't have any internal memory.

Chromecast is literally just for mirroring content from your many devices onto a bigger screen. You need a phone, computer or tablet to use it. The Firestick is a a mini-computer on a stick you can install apps on without the need of another device.

I've sorted the connection issue with downloading the software onto the stick.

It's taking a fucking long time to download though. That's over 30 mins it been going now.

Anyone else had or having this problem??

I'm sure Ranjit Caladonia will be a long in a bit to offer some good old after sales advice.

Not sure but a lot of things cant handle smart setup including a lot of smart tvs and apple/android things

A problem occurs on Apple and Android devices because when a wireless device is connected to the Homehub, "smart set up" opens an on line wizard showing what BT features and services are available.

Because this would appear to have been designed for Windows it does not open on Apple and Android devices but it does cause these devices to receive a slow connection to the Homehub.

If you turn off "smart set up", it stops this problem and the devices will have normal speeds from the Homehub.
