Inferior Clubs Games In Spfl

Why is their Livingston game off out of interest?

Celtic had to play last season without 12 players following one player having COVID.

SFA rules state that for a match to go ahead a team must have a minimum of 13 fit players, one of whom has to be a goalkeeper and at least 10 of whom are over  the age of 18.

They had more players test positive on Mon/Tues. And had 4 or 5 players ruled out by injury on top of that. Their squad is considerably smaller than Celtic's so it could be that if one or two of the players who tested positive are goalkeepers, because they do specialist training amongst themselves that they are unable to to even field one who isn't either covid positive or is having to isolate as a close contact.

Was it St Mirren last year that didn't have a goalkeeper and ended up getting the Hearts boy in as an emergency cover on the Friday night?

Aye but that was their choice to do that. They did have a couple of youth goalkeepers who weren't isolating and could have played had the loan not gone through

I recall the talk was about getting Langfield registered to play as their 3 goalkeepers were positive / isolating.

Quote

"The club have been informed that due to positive test results and track and trace protocols, our goalkeepers, Jak Alnwick, Dean Lyness and Peter Urminsky are all ineligible for tomorrow's match.

"With less than 24 hours' notice our only option is to attempt to bring in an eligible goalkeeper on loan and the club are working hard to do so and we will update fans as soon as possible once a deal is complete.

Seemed a bit harsh I thought at the time as a goalkeeper is very much a specialised position

I think that was only an option if the loan hadn't went through and I'm sure Langfield was only going to be on the bench....the youth keeper would have started the match.

St Mirren were actually the first team beyond the arse cheeks to own their own custom built training facility. It differs from ours though in that there are separate buildings for the first team squad and the youth academy. The youth academy  are in a brick building which got upgraded in the summer to include a gym and dining facilities. The first team squad are  in a long building that looks a bit like the huts you used to see used as classrooms in schools which has an integral gym and restaurant

Edit....i got the facilities the wrong way round, now sorted

Hibs have only 8 fit players

15 of their squad have tested positive for covid (and 4 staff members)  hence why their game with LIvi is off

Their chief exec has confirmed the guy from the hotel was a sevconian supporter and looking to cause trouble.

I am not doubting the issues! My annoyance is with the way our players/club where treated by the spl and media! The fines handed out should be rescinded if we are not all being treated the same

Last season, Ferguson, McCrorie and McLennan were absent for 3 matches due to testing positive for Covid or being in contact with someone who was while away on Scotland U21 duty. Protocols were not followed by the U21 national side. We were punished through their absence and it came at a time when we had an injury crisis. We subsequently dropped points to Hamilton etc. We were also fined at the start of last season for the players outing/positive test cases.

This could work out in Hibs favour. It allows injured players time to recover and be available for when these postponed fixtures are played.

If they haven't followed the protocols in place then they should be fined just as we did. I don't agree with forfeiting matches as much as I wish that was the case in this instance.

What's the tennis balls all about?

“Its part of their protest against the potential appointment of Bernard Higgins, former Assistant Chief Constable of Police Scotland, to a position at the club.”

Presume it’s political? The Old Bill being seen as Masonic, establishment, Protestant? Who knows - the balls’ in the board’s court??

I once had a work colleague, Sellic fan, who was in the RAF at the time of this incident. Went to his usual Sellic boozer pre match and word got round he was in the forces. Got a kicking from his own fans.

Higgins is of a catholic background.

It's to do with his involvement in the football legislation that the snp brought in, then subsequently dropped.

I see Dunfermline have finally got a win. ?

Peter Grant was a joke at Alloa but somehow managed to convince the Dunfermline board to appoint him as manager. Absolutely useless was the outcome and the first match without him they win.
I hope he puts his name forward for the job in Govan….I will personally give him a glowing reference.

More fitting in this thread (as all club performance chat should be at moment) we are on 15 points from 14 games & will most likely be on 15 from 15 after next game, so basically only averaging 1 point a game at over two thirds way through season. Potentially (keeping this average) STILL most certainly in a relegation area & most certainly bottom six at this rate.
wins against hibs/hearts & draw with huns (almost HALF our points total) had some thinking all was ok but all that done is fool a few fence sitters that things were improving & Glass ‘deserves’ more time.

BOLLOCKS HE DOES

I wanted him to get two windows before fair assessment but after the complete mess he made of first window (with clearly a very decent budget) I really do not want him squandering more cash next window. Ten fkn signings & his two best (Ramirez/Brown) were the big/fan pleasers & his only real successful signings so far, Watkins could be also.

Get the cunt gone please. Bring in someone with time to assess team (& work on binning the shite most importantly) before January window opens.

NOW is time to act. Not mid December or worse still start of window in January
