To call Ferguson a great player for us for years is just ridiculous.

He's been a good player for us since his arrival. In our top 3 players the last few years. Hence why someone's willing to pay 3 million. He wont go down as a great, don't think Davie would really think that either.

Good news for all concerned. Decent cash for us and a good move for him.

As already said, he's been an excellent player for us and one we'll miss.

That's circa £10 million we've brought in this summer, which I'd imagine was much needed after the covid year or so. Would hope to see a little bit more of that invested in the side. Preferably on someone in the middle of the park, someone with a bit of creativity.

Fergusson is an example of what we should do - bring in a cheap youth develop even pay a sim of cash and improve as far as we can - and then sell. That seems to be our aim now. Yes we need old heads but most of our players should be 20-25. The closer to 20 the better. And on long contracts

If only it was that easy.

Exactly. We got 4 full seasons from Ferguson I think we paid £275k for him and are now selling him for £3m. What we did with McKenna, Ramsay and Ferguson are good selling points for any future young talent we want to sign. No doubt when we first went after Ferguson McInnes would have sold it to him by telling him he'd get a chance to break into our first team at a young age which would give him a decent platform to move to bigger/richer club a few years down the line.

Ferguson was a success here. Winning goal against the Huns in the cup semi and he liked a goal against Celtic too. He asked to leave last summer after 3 seasons and I think if we had a suitable offer then we would have sold. The club decided not to and although Ferguson clearly wasn't happy about it he still scored 16 goals last season. He won't go down as an Aberdeen great or anything but he was clearly a success for us. I wish him good luck he deserves his move.

Haha yeah I think most clubs would love to do that, not quite as simple as that though is it?

Its a really exciting chapter for Scottish football right now though

Hickey successful in Serie A, now Ferguson and Doig going over

Incredible

Absolutely. Henderson, Hickey, now Ferguson & Doig, suddenly it's all change. Last Scot i can remember playing in Italy prior to these guys would be Souness at Sampdoria. Long time back now.

Hopefully this opens the door for more Scots lads going abroad, can only help the national team and at club level you'd hope broader interest helps teams secure higher fees for players.

Great business, wish him well. Shady family but will cherish that goal against the Huns at Hampden. Good on him for choosing Bologna too and trying something a bit exotic for a lad from Hamilton.

Also well played Cormack, gets criticised plenty but have to say the value we are getting for our young players these days  shows a bit of balls.

He was a competent player, who was consistent for a good spell arrived and certainly added to the side, but of late since his move to watford was kyboshed, and his father's pal was dunted , he's had a petted lip, and has been looking to leave

Aye cause teams pay 3m for a "competent player". Fucking beaut.

Good opportunity for the lad if this move transpires. Refreshing to see young talent move on to bigger and better things than immediate-rival-depleting bench-warming in Glasgow for a relative pittance. If he does well he can dream of even bigger and better things a year or two down the line, but if he doesn't, he can get his family's "dream move" to Sevco 5088 The The Rangers Newco 2012 for a nominal fee. Win-win either way for Clan Ferguson :checkit:

Scott Burns reporting that an Italian journalist has told him the fee for Ferguson is €4m (Euro) plus add ons. If that is true it's a great piece of business by the club. €4m is currently just under £3.5m.

That would be a good deal indeed!
