Would be good to see a friendly next season between Aberdeen and Atlanta to gauge the quality. The quality of the players outside the designated players isn't far off some of Scottish teams with some obvious expectations. There is little doubt that the overall quality has improved a lot since Beckham went across though. MLS recruitment is all over south America these days and recruiting some really decent prospects into the first team and second teams.

There are some outstanding players in the Junior ranks of US fitba... the problem is they can earn far more money in other sports, so they dump fitba and go off and play baseball or hockey or some other shite. If these kids were all to remain in the sport beyond 16 years of age there's be a terrific amount of home-grown talent in the US, without the need to import foreigners.

Maybe we can make a cheeky bid to bring in Miles Robinson from Atlanta for a season... big, strong defender in the McKenna mould, but more mobile.

This is why it is particularly embarrassing how shite Scotland are.

Our number one sport is by quite some distance football. Most countries have several sports they are interested in. Many countries who regularly give us a doing like the Czech Republic don't even have football as their main sport.

Or maybe Scotland once had potentially the worlds greatest player but he was from Mallaig and turned to shinty

Looking back at Scotland's record v Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia it really isn't that bad at all. Marginally better than  50/50 results wise over the years (9 wins, 2 draws, 8 defeats) including some pretty decent results in matches that had a lot riding on them qualification for tournament finals wise.

Our problem in internationals against top ranked countries really is very good considering our size. It's ones against countries lower ranked than us that have more often disappointed.

Surprised to hear that.

I’ve not watched any MLS as I can’t be arsed, but I’d question the standard when two of Atlanta’s main players couldn’t hack it in our top league (Mulraney & Hyndman).

Fair point. Although other team started with mautudi and higuain.

There designated players are mostly better than anything in our league and the football in general is far better than ours. Saying that a lot of the non designated players are very ordinary but are coached well and every team seems to promote a lot of Youngsters. Goals were both quality in Tonights game, Morgan also had a good game

Watching atlanta game just now, difficult to compare but definitely better standard than I assumed.

I watched about 2/3 of the game.

Standard is on par with non top two spfl imo

Notable how both teams are playing open which leads to back and fore attacks which is much more entertaining

At least Hernandez has made the bench, still no start tho!! I assume the likes of Jackson Conway is the type we might get in on loan from Atlanta. Young and came through their 2nd team.

Indeed. Born in the UK as well so no difficulty getting in.

Was at the ATL UTD game tonight.  Last 15 min was shambles.  Did see Ronny on the big screen for 5 sec when barco came on.  Don't even think he was called to warm up.spacer.pngstadium is world class though.  Didn't know Dave and Ronnie was there.  Have  some family in the ATL area that have been pals with Dave for ages.

For $1b it should be world class.

Would like to go to an MLS game at some point, if only for the food and drink you can get there.

The food there is also brilliant.  Best part about that stadium is free refills on your drinks (unheard of in professional stadiums here),  So a good 24 OZ souvenir cup costs about 3£ and then you can just go to the machines and refill it for free the rest of the game.  They also don’t over charge for things like like hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos, popcorn from stadium food kiosks.  Think a hotdog is like 1£ and a burger like 2£ (Also unheard of in a stadium here.  Most would charge 4-5£ for a hotdog and 7-8£ for a burger).  But there is also about 50-100 privately owned restaurants/fast food locations around the stadium.

Wow, that's insane

It’s also incredibly loud in there.  They were way below avg attendance yesterday and it was still bloody loud. (Picture was at half time when everyone was at the food stalls.)

Been to Orlando City a couple of times and NY City at the Yankee stadium and the food and drink was great and very reasonably priced but was at boxing at Madison Square Garden and it was very expensive for a Beer there $13 and about $10 for a hot dog
