I’m also starting to doubt Ronnie cost us £800k. No way would we spend that much on a player just to sit on the bench. Even if McInnes isn’t his biggest fan, you’d think Cormack would be telling him to give the guy a chance before forgetting about him.

And if McInnes tells Cormack that he isn't good enough to give a chance to? Or that he doesn't fit into the system we are playing?

McInnes might not be everyone's cup of tea but he's an experienced manager and an ex-pro. His knowledge of what makes a player "good enough" wins through every time. Remember what happened to Hearts about 12/13 years back when Romanov started dictating to his managers who they had to pick. It didn't end well for them

Trying 6 other players at right wing back instead of playing him there is about as strong a message as you can get that McInnes thinks he's completely useless.

If we spent £800k up front I would think there would be serious pressure to play him.

He either cost absolutely nothing like that or he belongs to investors or Atlanta but not Aberdeen FC.

So about a million in total on transfer fees last season. Only Kennedy looking like money well spent as well.

Kennedy?

Based on what, exactly? Can't think of him standing out in any game in particular. Youth player could easily fill that role

Anyways, either he didn’t cost that sum (and we’ve seen nothing in him to suggest we did) or that football wise DM was not involved in his procurement.

i have a feeling it’s probably at a bit of both.

So why would Cormack specifically say on one of his video messages a few weeks back that  we paid £800k for him? There could be no good reason for him lying about it. If he only cost say £200k.... we would only pay VAT on that figure. So he'd be laying the club open to an investigation from the authorities if they came across his video at a later date with him claiming to have paid a helluva lot more.

I doubt the 'authorities' are interested in anything other that the invoice from staebek and how it reconciles to the bank transfer and the vat account.

What anyone said is absolutely irrelevant.

One of the weirdest stories in our history.

If he goes to Copa America this summer we'd probably pocket £300k or something. Shame if he's falling out of the picture now.

Keen to see him stay in the game after Dons. Fingers crossed for the lad

Weirder than steve paterson in the boot of a car after getting the punt ?

Why wasn’t he punted on loan or something if McInnes thinks he’s too shite to get in team?

why also have no reporters dared ask McInnes wtf is the story with this lad? Are they banned from asking anything?

Even more surprised that the west coast mafia media haven’t been mentioning this whole saga by now, with him being (reportedly) close to a £1m signing, though I know all they are interested in is the arse cheeks but this Hernandez signing is our equivalent of the Huns signing Flo but they at least got some value for money spunked.

This could seriously prove to be our last big (for us at least) money signing as its biting us on the arse, especially just before COVID losses.

It's not quite Rafael Scheidt levels of weirdness yet but it's definitely getting there. Question is now do we try to punt him in January and try to recoup whatever we can for him or do we risk sending him out on loan in the hope he finds some form elsewhere and we bring him back in the summer? Although fuck knows who might want him in either scenario
