Parky I'm the one accepting that it exists and will never go away. It's a virus that will be floating about the population, mutating, flaring up, killing a few folk, for the rest of time. There will never be a 100% effective vaccine and we'll never be 'covid free'

Your chat about eradicating it in Scotland is 'wishing it away' I'm afraid, a complete fantasy.

@Parklife is this wrong?

well well well boyzzz

estimates by cause are based on underlying cause of death rather than on any mention of a disease on the death certificate and reporting starts from January 2023 rather than the start of the pandemic. Which basically means they’re admitting the excess deaths shit during covid was just drivel. Drivel to fear you.

that’s an absolute hustle gents. They’ve pulled our pants down big time. But why would they do it?

you know why, by now

the reason you want to exclude a whole bunch of deaths from the early part of the pandemic is because those were clearly skewing the rolling data. if you want to track the ongoing excess deaths, if there are any, then having that data being inflated by early covid deaths would heavily skew it. if they wanted to "hustle us" or if they wanted to scare us they'd just keep those deaths in, so what they are doing is the opposite of what you are saying.

the reason they wouldnt base estimates on whether covid is mentioned on a death certificate is because those recording it dont have access to perfect information or necessarily the time. if someone has cancer and dies, but they had covid at some point, why would you put covid on the death certificate? how would they know?

what you are trying to do is estimate the excess deaths during a period and clearly a worldwide fucking pandemic, with no vaccine, that kills people is a clear suspect in those excess deaths.

edit:spelling

at the time im sure they were recording covid as a contributing factor cos they might have had covid. if someone dies this week and they havent had covid for a while then why would covid be on the certificate? it probably wouldnt. but it would show up in "excess deaths" and a reasonable hypothesis is the "excess deaths" are related to a global pandemic that killed loads of people and has had longterm health impacts. isnt that what we are talking about here?

there isnt any conspiracy to scare us.
