Seemed like for the whole summer and the start of first year the charts had been totally dominated by various songs from Grease. Then , at last, Rat Trap knocked them off the number 1 spot.  The charts were  a big deal in those days , as was talking about Top of the Pops in school on Fridays after watching it the night before.

 

 

Was either that one or Blondie for me(Denis Denis).

Later that summer Youre the one that I want(Grease),seemed to be around for flippin ever.Aye the charts were a big thing back then,hoping,as a young Greaser,the Quo were heading up,only to be surpassed by some shite like the Chilites/Lena Martell/Smurfs etc

"She drives..." would easily get on my list of favourite songs ever, I still watch the video on youtube. 

In retrospect '89 was a pretty good year for music, lots of good releases.

It was of it's time as well, lots of unemployment, riots in London, Liverpool and Bristol.

It would be a good theme tune for Union Street and Aberdeen in general nowadays to be fair.
