a six month loan because we were cashing in on cosgrove and main was acceptable. as an outright signing with 2.5 months of the transfer window to go it would be very poor

Biggest problem with being a small club is that you set your stall out to bring in good players and they leave you hanging as last resort and end up signing for someone else. You then end up signing shite in a panic! Sometimes you just have to pay the money and get them over the line!
