That's almost as good as the Phil Foden rumour from a couple of years ago ?

It's strange how we do manage to bag some top class players on loan - Maddison, Ward, Lowe... - it shows that these types of players are available and willing to come... but more often than not we end up signing crap that's not even as good as what we already have at the club. We should be bagging players who are in the England U21 team currently, real prospects... not some guff from Wolves who played for England U12s about 10 years ago (disclaimer as always - I do hope he does well!!)

Whilst I agree with you I doubt we'd get Engalnd u21 players

Just an example in the most recent squad (Euro u21) most of them were established players in either Premiership or championship clubs (such as McNeil, Aarons, Eze, Cantwell).

I think trying to find good loanees like Ward, Lowe etc is good idea just hope we try and secure loanees with an option to buy, similar to that of Samuels in the hope that if they turn out good we can get them permanently

But we would never have got the likes of Ward and Maddison on an option to buy deal as they were always earmarked for first team or a big money move. So the quality of the loanee drops if thats what you want. Which brings you to the question of - maybe better running with our own youngsters rather than taking cast offs purely because we get the option to buy them.

Fair point mate. Well made.

We should be buying good players, not shit ones. I get it now.

Every team should adopt this mantra shouldn't they.

It must be a  standard trait of some AFC fans to slag off and dismiss any signing that we make that’s not a household name or if he’s not a up and coming youngster we can develop.

Oh wait we still do that even when we do sign a up and coming youngster. Not forgetting the numerous post moaning about  the signing Brooner and Ramirez.

Let’s hope he doesn’t by chance log on here to see what the fans think of him signing, cause that will really help him settle in and fill him with confidence all strikers thrive on.

Get a grip, stop pishing yourselves and give him a chance.

There are some people on here that are unhappy with every single signing we make.

There are others who try to justify every single signing as being brilliant.

The truth is normally somewhere in the middle. We get players on the way up or the way down, thats the reality.  We'll rarely be able to sign a top player at their peak

Thats probably only true of the good ones

Reckon we've signed plenty at their peak, just a shame their peak is absolutely woeful

Definitely need an experienced spl CH now with big Andy out till January.

Maybe Scott Brown could talk to his old mentor and gaffer Brendan and asking if we could borrow his former team mate Filip Benkovic.

When he was loaned to Celtic a few years ago he did really well and looked very good. He then went on loan to Bristol City. Last season he went to Cardiff and Leuven in Belgium but never played a single game. Leicester have lots of centre backs injured but he seems totally out of the picture there and not getting even on the bench, They have played a centre mid at centre back ahead of him and just signed Vestergaard from Southampton as well.

They spent a big fee on him and will obviously be looking to look to sell him soon but lack of game time last season means his value has slumped further. If he doesn't play games for anyone the chances of them recouping much is getting less all the time.  Loan him to us for the season and he plays every week, if he does well it will help get his profile up again and give them a better chance of an increased fee than they currently have. They need him to go out somewhere that he will definitely play games and help him improve again and if he does well his value rises again.

Is he not still at Leuven on loan until the end of the season?

Watkins signed a short term deal with Cardiff till the end of August. Scored in a few of the pre season games for them.

Which was confirmed not to be getting renewed last week.

He's on his way north in a private plane - hopefully a year long deal on the table.
