Still can’t believe we’re dicking about with Devlin.

Get him to fuck & bring in a centre half to go alongside Gallagher.

Absolute madness. Ridiculous that we've offered him any kind of deal. Incredible that he's not accepted it straight away. Insane that we seem to be hanging around waiting for him to assess options and get back to us.

For what it's worth I'd be happy to use McCrorie as a centre back - I'm sure that's where he played for Scotland U21s as captain. He brings pace and athleticism and ability to bring the ball out from the back, which neither Gallagher or Considine offer. We still need to bring in another defender though - I wouldn't be surprised if we got someone in on loan to provide that back up for the next 6 months, then went and signed someone in January.

Ideally a permanent signing, but a first pick loan for 6-12 months would do in the meantime to go alongside Gallagher.

Similar to what we did with Michael Hector.

Having Considine & McCrorie as 3rd & 4th picks would be ideal.

Maybe a job for the new Head of Recruitment.

If he's not fir for the Hacken match he should be told to find a new club. He's had 2 years to "be fit".

He should be told to fuck off regardless.

It’s not as if we’re waiting for that good a player.

What happened to Glass saying “if players are in two minds about signing or being here, we move on”? Who knows, maybe we have.

The fact we tried to sign Robertson hopefully means we are still looking or speaking to players.

If he wants to break into the Scotland team he should be committing to centre back or right back. Would surely fancy your chances dislodging Jack Hendry or Stephen O'Donnell before McGinn, McTominay, Gilmour, McGregor

That's not including McLean and even Shinnie who are better players than McCrorie is at the moment.

Or playing devil's advocate, could it be that Devlin won't sign it until he knows himself that he is fit enough to play? Could he be doing the right thing by the club?

Might be true but surely, unless the club are cleverly “airbrushing” him off the training photos, you’d had seen training at Cormack Park in an attempt to get fit, as you say?

He couldn't dislodge any of the Portsmouth centre backs when he was there on loan...

Right back might have been a possibility but the young sevco loon will likely nail down that place for the next 10 years

Can't see McCrorie getting capped now unless Scotland suffer a bizarre number of call offs prior to a match

Rumours that were in talks with Marley Watkins. Glass wants one more striker and a left sided centre back. Jamie McCart is a target but a lot of clubs are in for him. Few loan options for centre back as well.

Marley would be useful if we could get him back.  We won't get McCart - the press are also suggesting there is a massive queue for his signature!

I'd be happy with that,

Absolutely ! Marley’s leads into the box, his passing in the final third,  composure in the box are exactly what we have missed since he was injured in a horrendous tackle by our new assistant coach , ironically. He’s a free agent now so no fee and I hope a deal can be done  as we played our best stuff for ages when he was in the team. Played great in particular with Hedges, McGinn & Ferguson.

Glass thinks Aberdeen are now ready for Europe without any more signings needed.   His head must still be full of American hamburgers if that’s what he thinks.  And he’s given Devlin the accident and emergency specialist  a contract.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( One other thing regarding the new strip, it looks like the players were squeezed into them ,  they look cheap)

I’m not disputing your post here, and wouldn’t be averse to Watkins’ arrival, but surely, the remaining budget should be spent on a pacey wide player, rather than another number 10 type, given we already have McGinn in the building to do that, or Jenks?

The longer this goes on - especially with the management are happy with progress and the prawcess is working - the less comfortable I feel about the very significant doubts (is Ramirez really a good enough no 9 for AFC) and deficiencies we have (CB and width leap readily to mind but there are others - I hope Joe has found his gloves) - if we go with what we have we will be Atlanta's 3rd squad and incapable of making it above mid table. Europe will be a shorter event even than usual. There is still time and maybe we're playing our cards close to our chest.

Bit melodramatic min.

We've brought one Atlanta reserve in.   We're hardly Atlanta 3.

And as much as we are questioning the quality of our new signings so far we could probably field a side that would beat Atlanta's first team already.  Have you seen their results lately?  They are pish.

Certainly have some concerns about the squad ahead of the Hacken game but I don't think Ramirez is one of them. For me he's one of the signings that does have a bit of pedigree about him (including Brown in that).

Not comparing Glass to McGhee when I say this but memories of the Sigma preparation are gnawing away at me. Difference is I don't think we made any signings for that game at all.

I agree partially about lack of game time.

But McGhee thought it a good idea to play against a decent Czech team with:

               Langfield

Young Duff Considine Mulgrew

Foster Kerr McDonald Aluko

             Miller Mackie.

Being pedantic here but was it not a 4-3-3?

We are clearly far better equipped than we were back then but going into this match without a centre back pairing that doesn't give fans the absolute fear is one of the main issues for me.

I like a bit of melodrama - but the one we've brought wasn't getting a regular game for the pish team - we have no clear centre half pairing and the new strikers best years are behind him - we have to hope the standard of defending here is below that in the US as otherwise in JET and Hedges we will have to trust. We've gone seasons where we had to trust in Shinnie or in McLean so no change there but we're not exactly in a clearly setting the heather afire zone

Aye but that's just one player out of 22 we have. And if Ramsay kicks on hopefully he'll take the position sooner rather than later.
