How did it cost the NHS £21k?  The folk answering the phones don't get paid per call.

Ambulance call outs. Says so in the article.

The ambulance staff don't get paid per call out,  they're on shift anyway?

Loads of chat in the pub trade about beer supply issues. Co2 shortage, drivers on strike at Heineken, capacity at breweries reduced coz of the pingdemic, enjoy your pints while you still can.

Such as?  Other than fuel costs?  If they're on shift anyway?  Serious question, since you seem to know about it.

You've not fixed anything. I thought "pingdemic" was shorthand for people isolating? Am I mistaken?

The costs are there in plain sight. Call outs, medical staff being deployed to visit to check, specialists sometimes.

It’s not difficult to understand. If you call out a plumber to fix something you wouldn’t get it for free because if he wasn’t at yours he’d be working somewhere else.

There will be an existing cost per call out figure. Service costs x per year, they did y number of call outs therefore x/y = z

To prosecute the guy they'll have been asked for a figure and gave 20 call outs times z = 21grand or whatever.

They were working anyway,  it's not like they were sat at home on call. So no extra staffing costs.

So something that you don't pay directly for doesn't have a cost?  That is your logic here?

It's a term that seeks to portray the issue as one with the app, rather than one of increased virus prevalence.

You'll see Jamiesd doing it here:

You're right. The only way the app has changed since it's very launch is by altering it to make it ping LESS people.

More people are being "pinged" due to virus prevalence being higher and more social interactions taking place.

Yeah, pingdemic, more people being told to isolate by the app. Not sure what you're arguing here tbh.

Also what's the difference between a launch and a "very launch"?

It’s works out at £17.50 a crank call. I did a division calculation.

Exactamundo.

Same deal for call outs to RTA through insurance claims.

You should. These unnecessary rhetorical flourishes may be holding you back in your career. People value plain English.

'People' is a countable noun, so use FEWER not LESS.

It's good to get away from the trivial stuff and onto the important issues.

Not really coming out stating that she is either for or against this development is she - more just sitting on the fence as per usual in an attempt to appease the Greens.

Completely that, but at the end of the day she has no say over the decision so why get involved properly.
