The likes of Valencia, Sevilla and Villareal aren't operating on budgets close to their top 3 clubs. Sure I read recently that Valencia are close to going bust. Even Barcelona are on a dodgy wicket finances wise.

Same applies to the Italian clubs below the level of Juve and the Milan clubs. Even Roma and Napoli aren't close.

Note that PSG and Bayern aren't in (yet anyway)

All German clubs are owned by fans 51%

so probably a non starter for them!, 11 clubs in already, would be good if the Tim’s and huns got invited in, they could try and sell the “oldest” derby in Europe to appease the bigger clubs, while sticking the middle finger up at uefa/fifa for not stripping the huns of their titles,

whatever happens.clubs will be punished for this if it doesn’t happen, might balance the top leagues out a bit

All fans should have a stipulation that they must be 51% fan owned. Football is nothing without fans and they would do well to remember that!

Yep.. might be one last push to get the Colts into League 2 for next season as a safety net.

We should just allow their colts straight into the top league. That way their fans will still be able to watch top league football every week.

The SPFL can schedule the home games to ensure the young team are at home, when the ‘big team’ have away fixtures in the EPL.

job done and a great outcome for everyone involved...

Quite funny UEFA, Premier League and Sky getting annoyed as if they haven’t been ruining the game with money for years.

Spot on. The irony is thicker than my granny’s soup...

role out the seemingly selfless reasons why this is bad for the game...

Hope it does happen and it brings the whole house of cards down with it...

No chance the two cheeks will be invited. Not big enough deals

It won't happen.

UEFA will throw them more places and cash and the circus will roll on and the rich will get richer.

Meanwhile the rest of us will need a spreadsheet to work out if we'll be seeded for the 4th round of 6 qualifiers to get into the group stages of the Europa Paupers Cup.

That's how I read it too. Threaten to do something ridiculous with the aim of settling for something slightly less.

If it goes ahead and the cheeks get laughed out the room I hope they fuck off down to England so the guffs have to deal with the cheeks shite and their scummy fans

If the cheeks had been invited we'd have heard all about it in the Scottish press already.

what may happen is that sky get involved and 'suggest' that the cheeks join up with the epl. Hopefully

have about poor refs, VAR etc, we shouldn't subscribe to a footballing project that isolates the rich and the powerful in to a closed-shop money making cabal. Liverpool Football Club is a societal entity that despite foreign ownership still knows its roots. We are figureheads of the English league and are European legends, we should fight for improvement in the grass-roots of the game and the basics of the national sport, not divorce ourselves from what is flawed yet still great as a competition.
What happens 10 years after the the ESL? A world SL? What if were not invited in to that?

from one of the Liverpool forums..they are quite split on this. They  don’t  recognise they are already part of the closed shop and this would just be the next iteration..agree that the world league would be the next iteration for these ‘franchises’, pending the arrival of football on other planets..

Aye if they manage to make this work, the game will indeed be fucked.

Money has ruined it of course, and the level of greed in it now is disgusting.  More money is all that ever matters.  Fans should pull the plug for a bit, to bring it back down to earth.

it actually needs this for a reset. Let the very biggest clubs breakaway to a closed shop. Let the rest of us get on with it

They wouldn’t be invited in, sadly, but you could see them being invited if they created a structure below the initial proposal.  depending on how you define big, there are bigoted welts all over the world that follow them..

anything that got them out of here would be real progress..

The hunter gets captured by the game.

This is just an evolution of the disgusting, corruption and greed that has been created by UEFA, FIFA, EPL et.al. Fuck them. Let them create a model based on 12 clubs’ fans paying yet another subscription charge. Amazing. Stupid cunts.

The soul of football has long gone. The quicker they eat themselves the better.

The top 6 teams in England have agreed to join a new European Super League backed by yanks to the tune of 6 billion.

The games fucked.

If watching massively wealthy clubs, with whom they've zero affiliation, is something people to do want then there's no reason for us to give a fuck.

I've watched countless Champion's League games, and not a single goal in any of them made me punch the air or scream YAAAAAAAS, but Kamberi's goal against Livi had me just about spunking my wad up the walls.

Personally couldn't give a single fuck about any league Aberdeen Football Club isn't directly involved in.

Let them have their meaningless flash.

They mentioned three more teams to join to make the founding 15

if France and Germany have excluded themselves then it must be 3 of

ajax  Porto shahktar Donetsk zenit Napoli Seville benfica lazio etc

out of the top 5 euro leagues 2 are exempt

english top 6 have joined, Spanish top 3 have joined and Italian top 3 have joined

Barring PSG and Bayern there’s no other big hitters left that hasn’t joined up.

wonder who the three are?

Don't think things will really change for us... we've already been left out in the cold, since the establishment of SKY, the EPL, etc.

Karma for a load of these diddy english clubs who're locked out of this one - the same ones who've been lording it up, during the SKY/EPL years, while laughing at Scottish football!  I can't wait for this super league!  Hopefully this destroys the EPL!   Will be absolutely hilarious if it does!

This.  ^^^

We exist on the unfashionable margins of football already... below us there's only part-timers playing at fitba. 6 Billion quid to the super-rich clubs isn't going to shift our ability to win stuff in the SPFL up or down one single percentage point. And as far as European success is concerned we might realistically be the last Scottish team to ever win a Euro trophy.

We're pretty much European Super League-proof... we've so little money in the scheme of things, we're such a third rate shithole of a league already, that there's practically nothing they can do to make us poorer. Go ahead and try.

It would be funny to think the big money might shift away from the EPL, though, because they would be fucked ?
