I'm just basing it on the fact that we played some really good football when we had a front three of Him, Hedges and Wright.

And it doesnt need to be him per se so we're not exactly eulogising in that respect.  Someone who is willing to break into a bit a trot to do a bit of a press whilst the ball is still in their keepers arms should not have been that big an ask.  And as for moving to receive the ball or to create space for others to move into.  Is that really that hard to understand? 

Said this before about the huns and Rodger's Celtic before them.  All they do is move.  Nothing else.  Nothing fancy.  Just move. 

That Watkins was approaching transformational for us says more about us than it does about him.

We’re signing all the right players 

 

for the challenge of finishing 3rd & (if draws are kind) getting to semis & ?a final.

 

Hopefully we will up our game in the market for the players that might have us giving the arse cheeks a game in the weege like Glass fed us at some point soon too.

People saying we were a better team with Watkins in rather than Cosgrove was spot on. Watkins got injured in early November and we’d scored 17 goals not including European games (not counting 6-0 game for example as opposition were abysmal) then after he was injured we scored 18 up until now. 
 

It wasn’t lauding, it was stating we were miles better with him in the side, it’s fucking obvious considering we scored more in 3 months than we did in the next 7.

But we also had on form Wright/Hedges then but let’s give all the praise to the former Caley player that didn’t really stand out for them though. Watkins was ok but he stood out in desperate times. 
JET is better than him but still a meh signing if truth be told. Hopefully he can be as good as some hope but had he not scored 3 goals v us I doubt all the same folk would be so impressed by him.

Could be another Main & thon boy we signed from County or Caley, canny mind his name but he was decent for them then utterly shite for us then ended up being punted to St Mirren or something.

Yup that was also a factor but he was still playing well. His signing made a difference and when he got injured we suffered. Pretty simple.

As F&D had pointed out, we'd lost our key attacking players also. Ferguson and McCrorie had lost form too. Yet all folk wanted to do was claim that replacing Cosgrove with Watkins would solve all our problems. 

It was wrong then and it's still wrong now.

Not denying that at all BUT he had no eye for goal himself (which would be nice) & he came in pretty dire times in our attack & was one we basically pinned all hope on. Let’s not be love struck teenagers over his abilities though. Pretty sure we can & should be doing better. We now have an Easy Jet signing to hopefully fill his ‘void’ so him taking another ‘maybe could be good’ slot is a potential waste of budget where we should be after ‘marquee’ types

It’s not though. JET has taken the role Watkins basically did ok at. We haven’t got room for others of similar hope/standard. We have to spend budget wisely & not on ‘maybes’ 

 

Next striker has to be a stand out, or we’re just kicking stones again as usual
