It was a fantastic goal, but even if Marshall was just 10 yards further back, he’d have saved it, if the lad even tried it at all seeing him further back towards his goal. 

A brilliant goal, but Hendry AND Marshall both culpable IMO.  

As much as there were faults at the goal, the fact the lad scored from 52 yards or whatever it was, summed our day up.
It’s a one in fifty attempt. Scotland didn’t get many breaks today.

Not sure why folk are defending Marshall for the goal. Great strike, but only made possible because Marshall was in the middle of nowhere.

We were unlucky. 2-0 Czech was very harsh, we had plenty chances and definitely didn’t deserve to lose. On another day or with a better striker we’d have won.

HAHAHA, you are ace, my point is he gains little to no advantage by being almost 40yards out his box compared to being 18-25yards out his box, especially when analytics will show that if a move breaks down where Scotland had the balls the chances are the ball is going to get cleared right over his head or the Czechs regain possession meaning he has a large distance to go back. Also he was very slow to react to the ball getting played to Schick, almost certain that had he been on the edge of his box he gets a hand on that easily.

I admired your positivity but the better team won.

Whilst Dykes, Forrest, Robertson, and McTominay could have and should have done better with their respective chances, the Czechs had other goalscoring opportunities (the boy Schick had a very good chance to get his hat-trick) that David Marshall saved and prevented a right thumping. 

It could have been better, like you infer, however that purely would have been papering over the cracks of a woeful defensive performance.

The only reason this doesn't happen more often is that teams normally have a player sitting deeper as cover and the goalie doesn't stand on the edge of the centre circle otherwise it would happen every other week.

Great goal from a strikers point of view but an absolute disaster from the keepers point of view.

Marshall is quite far out to be fair but we're chasing a goal. I initially said 30 yarrds out for our CB but that photo looks more like 25 yards! I should have been clearer. Freak in that 99 times out of 100 our shot isn't deflected into the path of their striker on the half way line. To be fair to the lad, it's an excellent strike from there

There's the difference though:

Supposedly 'average' European side (IMO I thought they looked decent) 2 chances, 0-2 and game over. 

Scotland 2 chances, blew them, still 0-2 and game over.

Again, no criticism of Clarke or the squad but there's simply not the quality there for this level.
