I just remember a long line of strikers who couldn't kick their own arse, but I must have forgotten someone (?).

Rooney scored in his debut vs motherwell and then again in the cup semi against st Johnstone in the next game. He also assisted Hayes for the opener iirc. 
 

edit just checked wiki. 6 goals in his first 8 games. He will do well to beat that.
