Fall of Kabul

Anyone who knows a bit of history could have told you pretty much exactly how the invasion of Afghanistan would end for the US.

Most of us are too young, or weren't even born, when Saigon fell to the Communists, but... with history having a habit of teaching politicians absolutely nothing... we'll always have the opportunity to see the same shit happen again.

This is this generation's fall of Saigon.

Any chance of a proper mannies war breaking out or are we stuck with this modern proxy rubbish?

Someone(the Chinks) need to be taken to task for the last 18 months.

Blame all round on this one.
usa - clearly fucked up on inadequately training the Afghan army / security forces. Had 20 years to do it ffs. Soon as they move out taliban just waltz in virtually unopposed.
afghan govt - unable to motivate and arm their own troops to deal with a small (in army terms) of fucking cave dwellers. Also thought usa were bluffing about removing all troops.
biden - obviously received shite intel that taliban would be repelled as his decision to pull troops out looks foolhardy now.

What size is this Taliban gang? It always looks like just a few cunts in pick-up trucks driving into each town they invade.

Just last week the US was saying Kabul could be taken within 3 months.

It has taken a week.

The Afghan army was changing into civilian clothes and doing a runner.

Don't think they fired any shots.

Rudyard forewarned us about the men in the east. It was pre-destined to be a disaster, to "fail".

Success or failure needs a mission to be measured against. Do we really know what the fuck the west were in there for?

The Islamic state of Afghanistan will be fixed now. Sharia law will be the order of the day. Chopping hands off appears barbaric to the west but as a deterrent for thievery, I reckon it would be pretty effective.

The stoning of, and the general abuse of women - denying them education - is an absurd manifestation of the insecurity of their men but the biggest problem I have with moozlims are the forced marriages and the fucking of young girls who are barely through puberty, sometimes still in it. Apparently the prophet fucked young girls and set the sick precedent. Or at least that's what Yaxley/Lennon/Robinson says.

Yep. It’s an odd interpretation of what god wants; that he thinks educating women, allowing them to drive and having their heads uncovered are big no nos.
but middle aged men marrying 12 year olds and gays being chucked off rooftops is absolutely fine.

Reckon the Taliban are going to be a bit more media savvy this time around and will try to put on a "look we have changed we don't stone people to death anymore and we encourage women into higher education" while stoning folk to death and deterring women into being nothing else but subservient to all males in the background.

Why the fuck is the UN not stepping in?

Cannot take the piss out of America for allegedly thinking they are the "world police" then moan like fuck when they say "fuck it we are out of here then".

Afghanistan 'army' are obviously one in name only and their showing against the Taliban is something even the French are laughing at.

Overall it's a shit show, but Afghanistan has always been a shit show and is still ruled by war lords, factions and ideologists and reckon it always will be.

Hopefully China get involved as let's face it they are the only superpower left who have not had a crack at it.

To appease who, exactly? They don’t give a fuck.

Maybe they knew serious movement was happening in the caves and bailed out before an ill equipped battle took place.

with all their capabilities, there’s no way they couldn’t have known something was picking up momentum in the hills. It can’t have been an overnight mobilisation of scattered fighters after the US left.

Why can’t the US just destroy the opium crop and obliterate the taliban source of funding? Unless of course, it comes from elsewhere? Like SCARY RUSSIA OMG

The taliban remain a bit novelty for now anyway. If they want to be taken seriously they need to pay £100M and get some world class in. Like Gerry Adams

Why would they? What media will they be talking to? Where is your line of jurisdiction?

Exactly, it’s irrelevant what they do tbh. They could serve tea and cakes to all elderly.

the MSM will pursue their own narrative regardless of the new Taliban ethos of tea and cakes. The MSM with their Jewish influence will not ever see muslimanity be shown in a good light

divide and conquer. Keep em distracted and stay rich

Taliban PR Strategy

1. Pretend to stop the stonings and poof throwing

2. Selfies on Instagram

3. 6 month loan of Gerry Adams

4. New outfits

5. Serve tea and cakes to the elderly

6.

Invade Afghanistan and take on the Taliban.

When were the tiddly‘s last in a war? There might be wads of them but surely they’re not a world class force?

kelt will know of their capabilities. I recall an informative post made by him regarding Soviet tanks, many moons ago. I think he will be up to speed on their armory

Edited it but you were obviously quick on the quote.

So why did they call the BBC?

Slightly off topic, do you remember the BBC kept quoting the ‘Syrian observatory of human rights’ during that carry on a couple of years ago and it turns out that was just one dude in a council flat in Coventry ????

I think this is probably the thing that most people believe.

...That the Tallies were confined to cave systems and hidey-holes around the Hindu Kush, popping out to attack the odd convoy, or to cause some mayhem in the provincial areas, before scurrying back to their rocks before the US blasted into the fray, all guns a-blazing.

The reality is that we never controlled the countryside, and even back in the late 2000's Obama as much as admitted that the mission wasn't to destroy the Taliban, it was to prevent the Taliban from taking over the capital and what few major cities we had fortified.

The Russians were the same... holed up in the cities, with periodic sweeps of the surrounding areas to make a show of owning the territory... but they, and we, never did.

The Tallies weren't in caves or hiding under rocks... they were the ones in control of huge swathes of the country, and we were the ones hiding in our bases and fortified areas.

Exactly the same happened with the Russians. As they were retreating the Taliban was already surrounding Kabul, just in ever larger numbers... and as soon as the last Russkie bolted, the Tallies drove in and took over.

There's no way Biden didn't know this was going to happen. I thought there might be some attempts at mitigation, but this looks like he's washed his hands of the entire shit show.

Cannot remember that one but the call to the BBC this morning was made by Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen who by all accounts is legit.

It's gonna be a shit show and will be interesting to see if those countries allegedly criticising the UK and USA would be prepared to deploy troops themselves in an attempt to sort it out. Dinna hold your breath.

You're not thinking clearly.

You said they would be "more media savvy" and this presupposes certain obligations and jurisdictions, which you have failed to present. Now you're asking a question? Present your case first, your rationale as to why they need to be media savvy? To impress who?

So their official spokesperson calls the BBC to try to reassure everyone that this time the Taliban are going to play it nice.

Why did they do that?

They never had to do it but why did they, perhaps they never thought through the certain obligations and jurisdictions of such a move

Perhaps they don't understand who they are trying to 'impress' (your word nae mine) ?
