Scotland vs Denmark, Moldova & Austria

Recommended Posts

No wonder with our anti-football mentality. Our coaches never back our players to play football - it’s always clichéd nonsense from us. During the Euros, Chick Young actually compared our team selection to playing at school - where you would pick the best players for the team. That’s the level of our intelligence in this country. No shock to see Robertson appear on the right. We’re a joke and will only progress in the short term by hiring another foreign coach who actually succeeds by playing football, and not because of “dig” or “passion”. Those attributes could turn a good team into a great team, but that’s all we seem to bring - pathetic.

Second half was better but wouldn’t be hard first half was pathetic.
Pressed higher second half with a bit more urgency and I didn’t think young Gilmore gave the ball away second  half which was good. Ferguson is now an international so another few million on his price tag

Aye those 90 seconds will make all the difference

really getting shown up here , why are we so shite ????????

We're shite because the people who run Scottish football make Stewart Milne look like an actively involved genius by comparison. We're shite because our national game is run like a social club for the benefit of a few guys in blazers.

We're shite because nothing ever changes for as long as these guys have their seat on the team plane, their trips abroad, and a social calendar filled with day drinking and lodge meetings. We're shite because the journos who should be asking tough questions are instead getting fat on succulent lamb.

We're shite because we're led by shite for the benefit of shite. I don't even know the name of the shite who currently runs the SFA, but I guarantee you he's a 'pure gallus byraway' useless piece of shite.

That's why we're shite.

We have more than enough players these days to pick a side and not play folk out of position. Its so frustrating. No other country in the world would have Andy Robertson and play him anywhere other than left back. There is absolutely no need to play him right wing back.

McTominey in defense. Ryan Fraser up front.

Thought Clarke seemed a reasonable shout for the job but I really don't get the system he is fixated on. We aren't playing to our strengths at all

Agreed, play them in their correct position.McInnes was one of the worst for this.

It's time we just went out and actually played our way instead of trying to stifle other teams.

Might take a few hidings on the way but it's the only way to improve.

At least it would be more exciting.

We're also shite because the Scots are arrogant, ignorant fucks who think they've nothing to learn from foreigners.

This has to be true. Their must be an arrogance. They all think they are brilliant cause they play in the English Prem or in Glasgow.... yet Wales / N. Ireland / Republic seem to get results while chucking out Championship sides

The thing that bugs me is its a waste of a wikend and the cunts are shite.

The sooner international fitba is binned the better imo. The beauts who follow it would likely just go and watch the wifies team.

At least its not as money driven. I wish Scotland were better so I could have an interest....

Club football is on the decline for me. Too many driven, at least international football doesn't have that. Club football is driven toward thickos from Africa and Asia who will give all their money to Man U and Real Madrid. If Scotland can produce a good team, then we dominate. If Aberdeen produce a good team, they all leave on bosmans or go for pennies to championship teams.

Steve Clarke getting a new two year deal shows that the SFA are not that fussed about progression. Clarke came in and done a rewasonable job to get us to Euro 2020 but it is obvious his tactics and management are suited to the likes of a Kilmarnock who have a team of shite to pick from. Back to front as quick as possible and press in the hope you carve out an opportunity. See czech and Croatia games as proof it's how he sets up his teams.

We have done fuck all apart from draw with England. Someone who can get the best out of a team with some decent players is needed. Clarke doesn't have a fucking clue

Even our new manager seems to love this strategy. Fill the squad with midfielders because they are decent back up to fill in in most other positions but end up with this as a permanent ‘trend’

None of the teams that actually do well & play decent football resort to this strategy out of anything other than injury/suspension desperation

when was the last time we actually fielded a starting 11 with all in their best/natural positions?

What I dont get is the style of play appears nothing like at Kilmarnock. Killie would sit in then catch you on the counter with their decent SPFL standard full backs a huge part of it, Taylor and O'Donnell. They would play a back 4 and move it forward fast when the chance came.

Suddenly Clarke is Scotland manager and he is obsessed with a back 3 and wing backs. The midfield is our strongest part of the team yet don't seem to be involved in any of the play. Just play a back 4, use your full backs and have another player in midfield.

What frustrated me with Strachan was the team he should have been picking appeared to be obvious for years... it took him till his last 6 months or so to start picking it. We started getting results but by then it was too late and he was away. Now watching Clarke as manager it is the same. We have the players but he is picking bizarre teams and formations. Prick

If you look at the formation we are playing it’s generally a 3 6 1 or 3 5 2, but very rarely 2 up front. We are Playing 3 at the back to get in both Robertson and tierney in the team then try and get as many of the midfielders into the he can

Hes only playing 3 midfielders if hes got Dykes and Adams on. Then completely bypassing the midfield by hoofing it over the top of them. He basically wants Robertson and Tierney to do the same job, which is retarded

It is. People say Robertson isn’t playing as good as he can but he sits deeper because Tierney bombs past him from centre half.
He hardly plays 2 up although he might tomorrow since we are playing Moldova but generally it’s one of Adam’s or dykes up with one maybe 2 midfielders of him so we have 4 midfielders in a square 2 deep two in front.

Scotland have a very very slim chance of finishing second & making the play offs but even if we miraculously pull that off, we will not get through said PO’s

Saying on bbc we need 4 points minimum to have chance of second place but imo we need the full 6 points to have any realistic chance. We have to beat both Austria & Israel really otherwise we are relying on either gd or hoping the the one we do beat beats the one of the two we fail to beat

So what you are saying is, it's someone else fault?

No, THATS why we are shite

Is it somebody else's fault that we have made signings like Ojo, Jenks, Kennedy, Jet and Gurr?

Or that we persevere with mcginn, Hayes and mclennan?

No, it's our own fault and that's it

Never ever going to improve with the attitude you are adopting

But sir, I think you will find this is a Scotland thread.

Get a good win tonight and hopefully Austria and Israel draw and we are right back in it for second place

The score in that game isn't massively relevant. We need to win in Austria on Tuesday night. If that doesn't happen then we can forget about finishing 2nd.

The fact we need to go there and win should mean it forces Clarke not to go with our usual ultra defensive set up so the game should be slightly more entertaining. Also means it could end up like our game against Qarabag where they pick us off every time they attack
