David Bates

Recommended Posts

Taking too long for him to get back up to speed in Scottish fitba, needs a hard player beside him, which should be Gallagher but he’s been gash too......

His distribution is seriously poor, his persona is screaming of someone with next to no confidence, maybe a fee games out of the firing line might be in order.

Bombscare every time under pressure , other teams know this and will target him. He needs a time out soon as possible

Said on another thread that I thought when Master Bates signed that Glass had a pulled off a stroke of genius, but it's not. I also thought that it must be hard for bates but he will cum good and strong in the end, but he is not going to cum good at all.

I now believe that the proper level for our Master Bates is sitting on the bench for the ladies team building up the muscles in his wrist and forearm, that's pretty much all he is probably capable of doing.

Edit: Fucked it

I've got a wee bit of sympathy for Bates.  He's the only defender in our back 5.

Hes not been good but he's getting the brunt of other collective defensive errors as well as his own.

I'm no convinced by bates yet either to be honest.

He is shaky on the ball & his distribution is woeful.

I hope he proves me wrong in time, but so far I'm not seeing alot.

Injured as well. They looked better together before Gallagher got injured.

I feel for Norman that he wasn’t considered for a Scotland call up after all those injuries to squad players.

Back in training anyway.

I better not say too much about David Bates as I may have put my foot in it regarding one of our other players.
Stuff that…..David Bates like Dean Campbell could do with a good loan spell. Simply to get them playing in a less pressured surrounding where they can make their multiple mistakes but not at the expense of Aberdeen. January can’t come quickly enough. We need better reinforcements.

Ramsay is also.

Doubt they'll risk him on Sunday though.

No point risking him in a game we are certain to lose

Rather we minimise his game time, at best maybe give him a half just to build up match sharpness,m rather have him fully fit for the St Mirren + Livi games

Confirmed by Stephen Glass in press conference as back fit and available for selection on Sunday.

It has taken him a wee bit of time but thankfully David Bates is gradually coming good.Cool, calm and composed at the back tonight and even scored a goal.

Yeah. He was immense against a really potent Livi. Has to be said.

I am happy to hold my hands up & say I was wrong about him.

Far better than Gallagher

We all want Bates to do well for Aberdeen, I am sure that is not in question….it’s his general ability to perform well at this level that has been questioned. As you hint at, it was Anderson and Hamilton he was up against and in fairness he strolled it last night. Let’s see how he adapts in the coming weeks where the games are come thick and fast. It should give us an indication of his general ability.

I hadn’t realised he hadn’t played for around 5 months before we signed him so maybe that itself didn’t help him.
He did well last night though and it probably helped after him having a good conversation with his mother back at the house.

This team needs to go on a consistent run of good results. And that goes for all the players too. They need to start performing consistently as very few have done up to now.

Great to get 3 points last night but it can't be followed again by another run of defeats.

Glass must be the first Aberdeen manager to be lauded for the odd win here and there.
