Yes.....but there are players at the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich etc currently earning well in excess of 10k/week

Need to take your word for it…

If derby manage to survive (not go bust), offering the same wages to players will only see them back in the same position again…

No, there isn’t.
That stopped at the beginning of the year.

As has been stated, the players challenged the salary cap . But even when clubs believed it was going to be in place permanently, there was no upper limit as to how much they paid an individual player. If they paid one or two players big money, then naturally they'd have to even the average out by paying a  lot more players a relatively shite wage.

BUT

Foreby this, it didn't affect all current contracts. The PFA would have sued the EFL's ass if they had tried to enforce pay cuts on valid  existing contracts. And also there were derogations allowed for clubs that were getting relegated in future seasons from the Championship.

Shinnie's wages are no problem for our alpha dog sugar daddy new yankee chairman. He told us he plans to challenge for top of table status and group stage football after all.

There could be a lot of sales that open up a spot for him.

But yea I get it's wishfull thinking with a fired manager and ace hairclub for men keeper to pay.

We have only really been linked with one player this transfer window (McGrath) as the club seem to be trying to keep everything quiet. We still haven’t reached the transfer time slots yet so understandable if not much is currently spilling out from inside the club.
Players will definitely be moved on though as Cormack has threatened a tightening of purse strings. He probably views this season like a few of us…a slow prawcess and nothing to get excited about. Putting the full responsibility on Glass to make his own transfer funds is a challenge I hope he can accomplish. If he sells he will get some funds, if he doesn’t we go as we are (which won’t happen). I think a few of you will be surprised to see who goes out the door though.

Given that Marley Watkins was spotted with his foot encased in a protective boot and he’s on crutches, safe to say he won’t be back anytime soon. Might just be purely precautionary and with the shutdown upon us, he won’t miss too many games but the potential loss of both him and Hedges would he huge. In fact, it might ensure the latter stays till the end of season.

Notwithstanding the above, pace up front was a commodity we required anyway so might just hasten the prawcess.
