Summer 2022 Transfer Window

Gary Woods has been released seems to be a story this week. Surely means a new keeper is close.

Will we try to blag that he is injured/ill tomorrow or announce it today/tomorrow?

Who knows it the reason for holding on is to allow Woods to speak to clubs, keep it as a surprise for the fans we have a new keeper, or to avoid letting agents know weve preempted the talks concluding?

Woods is the only player I haven't noticed in any of the pre-season training pics and clips.

Going by the training kits Gallagher has been bumped from squad number 5 > 20.  Watkins from 7 > 15

He was in some pics but dont let that get in the way of a good rumour

I remember absolutely zero - zilch - nothing about Hladky when at St Mirren. What are people basing their optimism on and general euphoria that he is a great keeper?

Serious question?

His career since leaving the Paisley Saints isn't exactly inspiring either. Can someone fill me in please.

Competition will be good for Joe but is Hladky good enough to be number one and a significant upgrade?

He was very good for St Mirren, many others do remember that. He was also very good for Salford, hence getting the move to Ipswich.

He's an upgrade over Joe from last season, who was the most likely keeper to concede from a shot on target in the league. Not sure how he compares versus Joe on top form though.

Even reading up on him I genuinely cannot remember him being at the Saints.

Question is will he be better or even able to oust Lewis? Should be interesting if he signs.

Joe without the captains armband and a vocal Center half is a different player, still a great shot stopper on his day, whoever comes in is just a stop gap though as they have high hopes for a young lad at club supposedly I'm not up too speed on who though.

Decent shot stopper on his day but the constant flapping with high balls into his box caused a lot of problems last season and panics with the ball at his feet.

Proper competition/ new number one is definitely needed.

I don't think the defence has helped I don't think he's been the same since McKenna left. Not sure Hladky is answer really, I'm not sure he's much better than Woods.

Wouldn’t imagine Sparta Rotterdam could offer more wages than us, smaller club as well. Guess Rotterdam is a cooler city. Rreckon we would’ve pulled out once it became evident we were getting miovski , leaving lauritsen with only one option.

I doubt he's chosen them to take a smaller wage than we have offered.

Technically they've won more Eredivisie championships than we've won leagues but their last one was over 60 years ago, you still wouldn't exactly call them diddy though. Lauritsen's made his choice, we move on and hopefully source an even better player instead.

If it was the McInnes era we wouldnt move on he'd be joining on loan in 2023

You’re right, the wage agreed will probably be similar to what we offered. They get circa 10k average attendance so slightly less than. Better exposure with a mid table eredivisie team to be honest though. Reckon it would’ve been a tight call for the lad overall, could’ve gone either way.

If it’s him would of preferred a younger keeper to be joining us

31 tbf isn't particularly old for a 'keeper, look at how old the Edinburgh clubs' 'keepers are. He's more than 3 years younger than Lewis and ideally we can move Lewis on as I don't think he'll take too kindly to be second choice. Then we could look at bringing in a younger back up, although Tom Ritchie does seem to be very highly rated, he'd probably be better off going out on loan this season to get himself some first team experience.
