I agree.

Just wish we could've punched above at least one of those cup finals. Always bad performances (bar 2017 SC)

Over all he was undoubtedly a good manager for us. There’s also no doubt he outstayed his welcome, by at least 2 years

McInnes was unlucky in that the best squads we had under him happened to coincide with Brenda's Celtic.  If Delilah or Lennon had been in charge of Celtic at that time I reckon we'd have landed at least one more trophy.  Two trophies over his tenure and suddenly it looks much more successful.  One trophy over 8 years wasn't enough and we didn't look like we were ever going to win another one with him at the helm.

In terms of what he should have been doing, you don’t think he should have won more than one trophy?

Or fucking lucky that huns hibs hearts were all pretty much shite for a good chunk of that time.

Hibs have never been able to consistently be a top side. There is no difference between them and anyone else being in the league. Hearts were competitive again from 2015 but also tend to fall down to mid-table. Darak made it look too easy.

As said, 4 of 7.5 seasons it was not feasible to win a trophy.

The wasted year was the 2014 season, where we utterly blew a semi final against St Johnstone, despite dominating 80% of the game and having enough good chances to win 5 semi finals. If we'd won that game I've no doubt we would have done a cup double that season.

After that, we had the shite awful bad luck to get a couple of difficult away Scottish cup ties, and then we hit Roger's unbeatable Celtic side.

3 years in a row, we had Dundee United, ICT and Hibs winning the Scottish cup. At least one of them should have been us.

"Should have"?

No, nobody has a right to anything

You can't deny we blew the Cup double in 2014. Ahead at half time against St J in the semi ....the same St J we had walloped in the league cup semi about 10 weeks or so earlier.

And as has been said, 2 years later the Scottish Cup final contested by not one but TWO Championship clubs ffs. It was maybe a bit unlucky drawing Hearts away  but in the next round they drew the Championship side that eventually won the Cup and obv got put out. Our road to the final would have avoided Celtic.......Hibs took advantage of that. (although Deila's Celtic were no great shakes anyway)

So I'd say that McInnes should have  one more trophy win in his time with us. And had a eminently doable route to winning a third

Prick? McGinn was superb for us, there’s an argument he’s our best player in the last 15 years.

?? fuck me I'm not talking about his hole time & contribution at the club which was significant at times, I'm merely mentioning his pish display that semi final day. Yup he was a prick that day.

I get severe indigestion thinking about that semi v St Johnstone and the fact he only made 1 sub on the 90th minute, disgusting management that day.

I would absolutely state that that one game is the reason why we're still having polarised discussions about Mcinnes to this day.

Don't think it fair to judge him fully until he gets rid of the shite that he's been left to work with. His reasoning for bringing on prick ojo today should be questioned though.

Exactly... it's like someone turned up at their new job as an F1 driver, they've been handed the keys to a Ford Escort MKI, and told, "Okay, new fella... get out there and compete. Surely your tactical nous will enable you to finish in a decent position... in your clapped out MKI Ford fucking Escort."

And the crowd are screaming at him as his bucket of shit wobbles precariously around the track, "I'M NOT CONVINCED YOU'RE ANY BETTER THAN THE LAST CUNT WE HAD, YOU KNOW, THE ONE WHO LEFT YOU WITH EXACTLY THE SAME FUCKING FORD ESCORT MKI! DRIVE BETTER, YOU FUCKING CUNT! DRIVE FUCKING BETTER!"

A better driver would get better times though, may not compete but would see a slight improvement in times.

I'd have that over an F1 car any day.

Lovely motor.

Folk are cutting this guy some slack, for the simple reason he has inherited a team that are shite.

But lots of managers worth their salt have taken over clubs and improved them with the players theyv'e got.

In all honesty I haven't seen anything since he has taken over that has made me sit up and get excited, nothing at all to make me rush out a get a season ticket....I live in hope he can turn it round, but I'm beginning to think not.

Usually you see a new manager bounce.

Doesn’t look like it’s happening here any time soon

clapped out ford escort or not the driver would be expected to at least steer it round the track without stalling / crashing / knocking down the wee guy waving the flag.

Eleven games into his reign:

2 wins

4 draws

5 defeats

1 clean sheet (against relegated Dundee). He hasn’t even played the league champions in this run.

It’s quite a feat to take a shite side and actually make them worse. I genuinely wouldn’t have thought that possible.

My take is he was a panicky appointment who's had a negative impact through his bull/china shop approach to man management.

I'm expecting our recruitment to focus on League of Ireland and ex-St Mirren players. We'll become a mid-table side, likely top six (woo hoo) and a couple of couple of years from now Jim will leave with the clubs thanks, blah, blah, blah.
